Dnick, try to understand that people play games to get away from the crap that they have to deal with in real life. Nobody wants to play a used car simulator.

I think only the net changes made when you leave the shipyard should cost money. You would enter the shipyard with X credits, and leave with X-what you decided to buy. In between, you should be able to do whatever you want as far as different ships/guns, and have it just tell you what the cost is, like the armor screen is now.

So you can at least see what gun combinations fit, how much ammo you have, etc.

Heh, the car dealership analogy is flawed, I can test drive every car on the lot before I spend a dime. No test drives in NF :D

Maybe this might help you to put this into perspective.

Car Salesman: Ok just sign here and she's all yours.
Buyer: Ok cool, cya
1 month later...........................
Buyer: Hey I wanna trade in this car for a new one.
Car Salesman: Ok, well I can offer you 30k for this trade in on your next purchase.
Buyer: WTF....I payed 40k for that!!!!!
Car Salesman: Well yeah, you dont expect to get full price back on that do you? You've driven it for a month now, put miles on it, a few dings and scratches.

Get my point? When you buy something and use it, you dont get full price for it back. It makes complete sense. Although, I think the ship return rate and gun return rate should be switched. So that you lose money on ship when you sell it, but you still have freedom to try different guns. This would still encourage ship trade while still being able to change guns. This comes into play especially with CA and BB users when guns get very pricey.

The trading system is way too primitive at this stage of the game. Besides there are not enough people playing to affectively try and purchase/sell a ship. Trading ships doesn't add up any fun value to the game, only bring out more frustration. I think rule #9 gotta go. Trading sailors is a whole new game though. The trade room should be organized like a billboard. Where one can post his sailor or items and leave. The potential buyer would then search the database by coutry/item/sailor and contac the owner. Sort of what this site does but improved.
