As requested I have raised the game stability/crashing issue and I can report back that
yes these issues are constantly being worked on and our GMs in Korea beat up the Devs
about it on practically a daily basis for us. As always, the challenge is one of
configurations with the plethora of windows versions and system setups that we face in the
PC world. Consequently, there is unlikely to be one silver bullet that solves the issues
for all and for those lucky ones that dont need a silver bullet it is working out why
their's works fine.

To try and get some data together it might help if forum readers can answer the following
questions for us:

OS in use:

CPU in use:

RAM installed:

When you crash:

Type of crash (freeze, crash out of program, have to restart machine, etc):

Wired Internet: Yes or No

Do you use alt+tab in order to go to your desktop? If yes, when?

Thanks in advance.

I had crash issues recently and after snooping on the forums I found that I could possibly
fix this by changing compatibility to Windows98/ME and disabling themes. THis seems to
solve the issue. It was also suggested to defrag but my first option seemed to work. Hope
that helps!

Mor_idin
OS: Windows XP SP3
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+ (??? I believe???)
Ram Installed: dual 500 MB (1 GB total)
When I Crash: mostly during game start process (goes to black screen right away,
logo freezes up. I had one yesterday that kept on for 5 minutes on the spinning
"loading" logo, used the windows key to exit and ctrl-alt-del to end non-responsive
program, found an error message about an "unexpected error has forced to close"
and wound up re-downloading 85 patch files. occasional to rare for crashes in game.
occasional loading patch in game prep rooms with large numbers (more than the
usual pack/close to full room gb2s mainly), or when on the receiving end of a one
shot kill in blitz or gb2 (or viewing one such). you could say I got hit so hard it knocks
me out of NF.

Type of Crash: mostly freezes on start up of program, and rare (currently) loading
issues in large # player games, other wise it's an out and out, program just closes
and drops you to windows with a "we're sorry, we've had an unexpected error"
message. sometimes having to restart on a freeze on start up or when it's a loading
sprites for game prep room freeze, otherwise, alt-tab or windows key works fine.

Wired Internet, yes, only one computer on the modem + reg cable tv.

yes, frequently and without problems at all for the atl-tab. usually while sitting idle in
a game prep room, in harbour in between games, or after being sunk while waiting
on the end of game results for win/loss/flag bonus. alt-tab usually, windows key
when it's a freeze/game initial loading issue. I try not to alt-tab out or such while
game's loading.

additional note: re-installed a couple of weeks ago. it was smooth as silk for a few
days. but between the everyday patch check/hackshield patching, and any added
patches I do find that the game does destabalize. and the automatic patch check
upon loading of the game does tend to almost always find 1-2 files to download
about 60-70% of the time, especially after a game crash during game start up. could
be partially a patching code issue when patches are added?
