BashTS, there were multiple instances of when US Battleships fought Japanese Battleships.

One is during the battle of Guadalcanal on the 15th of November 1942, the USN Battleships;
Washington and South Dakota sunk the Japanese Kongo Class Battlecruiser, Kirishima.

Another is the Battle of Surigao Strait, where the Japanese lost 2 battleships, Fuso and
Yamashiro, and a majority of their escort. Whilst the USN lost a single destroyer to
friendly fire and 1 PT boat.

Next time look carefully before you make a response.

Also emperor... Sometimes the noise might be so loud that you may not hear it. For
instance, when the Hood exploded, one of the survivors said she exploded without a sound.
Even though the gunfire would be on a far lesser scale than a total cataclysmic explosion.

gunpowder to create such impact and the imgaine how loud those guns would be if
your in that Iowa...

I searched the web and found forums for both, Iowa and Wisconsin.
On both forums the Myth of lateral movement was dispelled.
The ship heels or rocks back slightly, but what we are seeing,
is the water being flash vaporised by the guns firing.


p.s. i still want to believe that it moves lateraly. :)

The guy who told me that was a retired US Navy engineer. As in, he helped design
several ships. If he says the thing moved a lot with a full broadside. It moved a lot
with a full broadside. :P

I wonder, how well a US BB went against 1 on 1 combat, that would be cool, but sad
in the War, in the Pacific, not a single BB fired a round at each other.

Is that the New Jersey? Or the Iwoa, or Missouri? Wisconson? LOL! Just wondering.
Oh and that flat platform in the rear is a Heli Pad, but on a break, the sailors use
that section as a picnic spot, sun tan, and it was used as a basketball court, I seen
a Video Clip of them playing basketball, but was so funny, when the ball landed off
the ship. LOL. That was so funny.
