  • The Connection to the Server has been lost.

Hello,

I'm very new to this game, infact I just downloaded it last night. Now, as you see I've
made an account I got the demo. Now, everytime I log-in and select to Missouri Server, the
error I get is: "The Connection to the Server has been lost.", is anyone else getting
this? Then if I try and do Arizona, it says something about the server being full. Can
someone help me please!? By the way, I've sent a E-mail to them about this. Just trying to
get a quicker answer. Thanks!

Hello

Please go through our stick post, title as "**Common Problems/Fixes. READ FIRST!
** (Update)" to read, we have some suggestion for you. To save your time, here is
the part:
============================================================
5) I cant get into the game/Lag/Connection speed Low/etc.
- pt1. Is your firewall burning you?
If you are using windows XP sp2, there is a firewall built in to windows. To allow an
exception for Navy Field follow the following steps.
A) Go to control panel
B) Go to Windows Firewall
C) Go to Exceptions
D) Click Add Program...
E) If Navy Field is not on the list click browse. C:\program files\Sdenternet\Navyfield
is the default spot for Navyfield. Double click on Navyfield program file.
F) Click ok, and Ok. This should allow NavyField to interact with the Internet.

If you have an external or separate software firewall, please be sure you have given
NavyField.exe full access to the internet. Port forwarding is also an option NavyField
uses TCP ports 8001 and 16671. For instructions on how to configure please consult
manufacturer.

- pt2. Could it be DEP?
Try turning off your DEP. If you are using Win XP sp2 these instructions should work
for you.

A) Go to the Control Panel
B) Double-click on the SYSTEM icon.
C) Click on the ADVANCED tab.
D) Click on the SETTINGS button in the PERFORMANCE section.
E) Click on the DATA EXECUTION PREVENTION tab.
F) Check the checkbox in front of Turn on DEP for all programs and services except
those I select
G) Click ADD
H) Navigate to your NF directory and add the NavyFIELD.exe

H2) Also add the Updater's .exe (NOT JUST THE LINK!) to the list!

- pt3. Wireless?
It seems many people report lag, Connection loss, and inability to even log in, has
come from them using a wireless connection. They have cleared up their problems by
using a long cord. This may sound odd, but it has worked for many people.

- pt4. Drivers up to date?
Are all of your drivers up to date? Video Drivers, DirectX, Sound Drivers,
Motherboard, etc...

- pt5. Defragged HDD lately?
Try defragging your Hard Disk Drives!

- pt6. TCP Optimizer.
Some people have said their connection related crash problems have been solved by
this program. You may find the original post about this program
http://www.navyfield.com/board/view.asp?
Num=2563&Sort=E09&Order=re_upday&PageSize=20&Page=2

- pt7. Dont Forget Virtual Memory!
Your virtual memory (or page file) is a way windows uses space on your hard drive
like ram. Many people report that at least double the physical amount of ram you
have is a good number for this. Personally I use about 1500mb. Here is how to
adjust it to suit your needs.
A) Go to control panel
B) Go to System
C) Click on Advanced Tab
D) Click on Performance Settings
E) Click on Advanced Tab
F) Click Change near bottom under Virtual Memory
G) Click Custom Size and Adjust to Taste. Minimum somewhere around 768 and max
around 1500 is what I have set.
H) Click Set. Ok. Apply.

- pt8. U.R.R.
If all else fails, or even at first sight of trouble, often the best way to fix problems
in NF is an Uninstall, Re-download, Re-install. Remember, all of your ship, sailor, and
credit/point information is all stored on the main server so deleting navy field from
your computer completely will not affect this.

- pt9 Restart!
This should be obvious, but I guess its not. If you are having difficulties with any
program, ever, restart your computer. This solves 1/4 of all software issues.

- pt10 Compatability Mode
For users of WinXP it if you are experenceing problems with crashes, or whatnot it
may be helpful to change the compatability mode that NavyField Runs in.
A) Goto C:\Program Files\SDENTERNET\NavyFIELD.exe
B) Right click NavyFIELD.exe and choose properties.
c) Click the compatibility to windows 2000.

============================================================
7) White/blackscreen bug, Timeouts...
The problems included:

-the login-process timing out
-often getting connection losterrors , during games, in the harbor and at the login
screen
-blackscreen-freeze while loading
-whitescreen-freeze when the view shifts to the port at the start
-being unable to control the ship ingame

Those were all fixed for me with this program but I would like to get it tested by
more people.

If you are willing to try something on your own risk then please follow this and
report back:

Go to

http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

Please download the tool called TCP Optimizer.

To use it, first select the network adapter you use and then your connection speed
by using the top slider.

Then go to FILE and create a backup of your current settings.

Then select OPTIMAL SETTINGS in the lower right of the GENERAL SETTINGS tab.

Click APPLY CHANGES and restart your PC.

Now check NF if the problems were solved and PLEASE REPORT BACK HERE!

Also please check if you have NetLimiter installed. If you have it installed please
uninstall it! It is causing problems with NF!
Thank you very much for your attention.

============================================================
We have recently discovered that having McAfee or NetLimiter programs running
while trying to play Navy Field may cause the following problems: lag, disconnects,
loss of control, server access denial and some other weird things.
You may experience "Network speed is too slow" or "Login time is over" errors as
well.

The problem with NetLimiter does not only affect NF, NetLimiter also has problems
with some other programs and system configurations.

To bypass the "NetLimiter Issue", please uninstall (simply shutting it down wont
work!) NetLimiter.

The "McAfee Issue" is caused by the "Privacy Service" Component of the Suite.

So if you are having problems connecting and you got the Mc Afee Security Suite,
use custom install and only use "Personal Firewall, Antivirus, Spamkiller". Dont use
the Privacy Service.

Or if you allready installed the whole thing. go to "Start -> Software"
choose "McAfee Privacy Service" and remove it. (on your own risk of course).

And just to make sure that no one misreads this post:

Neither do we claim that these programs are the only source for
the problems you experience, nor do we claim that everyone using these programs
will experience issues.

However, our point here is that we do have reported cases of these programs
causing problems, so if you have these programs and have issues with NF this
MIGHT (and only MIGHT) be (one of the) cause(s) for your issues.

Thanks for joining Navy Field

Can someone please help me? I've looked in the Problems forum and couldn't find anything

deal? Thanks!

i think i have the solution, well what it is is someone for some reason may be on
your account. that is the reason why it said you got disconnected. and another thing
the thing where you were logging on to the server that means that someone is on
the server.

so what i would suggest?..well make a ewn account or change password, or fi this is
not the case then i don't know what else there is.

Do you use McAfee security suite ???? For reasons which I won't go into here I've
tried out several internet security suites recently and McAfee caused no end of
problems for Navyfield.

Norton is ok and Zone Alarm... but when I used McAfee I got lots of network errors,
random lost connections, "network speed too slow" errors, etc. As soon I
uninstalled it everything was fine.

Don't know what the cause was or whether it is fixable (by configuring McAfee) but I
dumped McA and now use Zone Alarm.

Have you read the "Common Problems/Fixes" sticky yet?

It should deal with this problem, but if you find the help given there to be insufficient
then post back :)
