  • Update on Patching

I recently asked the GMs about how frequently we can get both test server and live server patches. The response I received is that we can get test server patches almost as often as we want. However, due to the developers having to code multiple versions of NF, we will only see live server patches once a month. Our live server patches will always be on the second week of every month. That means that the next coming patch date is July 11.  This means we should strive to have the hitbox testing finished for live patching by July 8th.

Thanks,

Caboose

We're limited with nearly 1 patch per week. Past experience shows us, that it takes nearly 4-6 days after a  request, in order to have the test server patched.

Because having as frequently as we want, that would allows me to end everything 1 year ago that includes H44, Sovietsky.

The GMs must have been not informed.

Further, we have to actually re-balance the ship and guns. Why does it have to be patched, when the guns and other ship stat are not finished. Or do we plan to finish everything in 2 weeks?

It doesn't. But leaving it to august to patch anything to RM seems rather wasteful of a month and a half. We might as well try to get the hitboxes fixed and patched live. That being said, if you want to work on the gunsets I will ask anything you provide me to be patched to assist you.

Personally, I rather waste another month and have a product that is more polished.

Throwing several patch to actually fix something will just create drama. It has been the case with the fail nerf italy damage patch.

It would create drama if we patch and then change again what has been patched already. In this case I don't see that happening.

Where I live we have a saying "Perfect is enemy of the good". Meaning I would rather have good things patched and have small improvements, rather than waiting for perfection that probably will never come.

I don't see the harm in patching the sprites when they are done, and then continuing with the most urgent gun changes and go patching untill we are finished.

This doesn't mean we will call it "done" by the end of the first patch, it just means we have to work on short term goals considering the patching schedule for NFNA

you cannot do perfect within one patch. that's why we have to fix SN ship again.

You can if it is done right. The last time, it was done wrong.

But there is too much to be done in 1 month.

I think the hitboxes/sprites should be concentrated on as they are nerfs on the whole. If we do a change on an overpowered ship, it needs to be a nerf. Any buff shouldn't be put in until further changes are made.

lol "further changes" ?
if it is perfect, why do we need "further changes"?

Because increasing the sprite size isn't the only change needed. To deal with the insane ignore all armor ability of the ship, the gun angles must be increased to 30 and then the range must be reduced. All of this will take time, but we have roughly 2 weeks to get this completed by. I don't see us being able to fix the guns in that amount of time AND the sprites. So it becomes an issue of what do we want done first? I think everyone will agree that a bigger hitbox on these ships will go a long way. So let's get the testing done ASAP and then it will be in time for the July 11th patch date. As I stated earlier, we need to have all of the recommendations finalized by July 8th. Otherwise we will have no patch of this until August 8th.

As such, the coming patch will not be considered the final say on Italy. It will be an interim fix that will be built upon further down the road to bring this nation into line.

Only one patch a month will work both for and against us - It means that we might not see some of the things in the roadmap for another 6 months. It also means that we have a clear idea of when we need to have projects finalized if we want them patched sooner. I'll provide dates each month for when we need stuff finished by.

We also need to get more serious about these testing sessions.  I unfortunately may no longer be able to make either of the sessions this Saturday (6am PST and 8AM PST) due to family visiting. I will be available most of Sunday though - pop into TS at any time and I should be around.
