I believe that because Singapore is such a small nation with a population of 5 million, National Service is needed. Singapore is that small that an army of regular troops wouldn't be enough to defend it.


As for the US 7th Fleet, it's stationed not too far away aswell as having ships in Guam. On top of that, you have the FPDA Arrangement between the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia.

if Singapore ask assistance and the 7th fleet dispatch with a constant speed of 24knts

it would probably take them around 2 days and 12 hrs to arrive

Really though who'd want to invade Singapore?
There are more valuable targets on that side of the world that they'd probably rather go for...

but singapore is special
