So Messi won Ballon D'or twice, and won every major trophies with Barcelona.
But he never win a world cup, and he is not that good playing for Argentina.

Football is a team sport; Messi does not constitute an entire team.

He is arguably the best player right now (at least top three), but there are some fantastic individuals who have not won that many trophies. As for him having a slump right now... everyone has those.

PS- I'm not even a Messi fan, and am certainly not a fan of Barca.

IMO, your only as good as those around you. Look at the Barcelona squad for example, it is the Spanish National team basically :P.

As I support Arsenal, I have no love of Barca. But Messi on that team is incredible. hefits in well with an excellent team and often accomplishs things. When he is playing for Argentina he does seem to be less effective, but that may be because he isn't as used to thatteam nearly as much.

I am a Messi fan, and I'm argentinian, I can say, Messi didn't won a major world cup, but he won -17 and -20 world cups, and he won olympic gold with Argentina, he is the best player of Argentina every match, and if it's not showed on the score it's cause his team doesn't play at his level.

I must agree with that.

Argentina has some very good players right now (Di Maria and Mascherano being the best, IMO, and Agüero and Pastore adding to the team) but they are definitely not the Barça squad.

BTW, been a Barça fan all my life; for better (1990's till now) and for worse (1939-1975 ).

No world class play-making midfielders?

Javier Mascherano is regarded to be one of the best if not THE best Argentinian Midfielders. You have Cambiasso aswell and a few youngsters.
