Hey guys,

I'm afraid its been a while since we last touched base on the status of upcoming projects and news. Since work has been primarily sticking to schedule as previously discussed, there has not been much to update. However, I'm sure some would rightfully argue that this latest event was in need of prior notification. I deeply apologize for the lack of notice. It ended up springing up on us as well on account of decisions out of our direct control. We hope to provide ample notice for future events.

On that note, I wish to provide some notice for a special "bundle pack" which will be made available through the NF Store on 1/31/13. This special bundle pack is set to include various popular premium items along with an exclusive set of item that has never before been made available and that will only be available through this limited bundle. The bundle will only be available for a certain period or until 200 have been sold. This is all I can say for the moment, so please look forward to it's full reveal on the 31st.

With regards to our ongoing projects and work, please see the following notes:

Amazon Free-to-Play Integration
Work is ongoing and currently in the testing phase. More time is needed in order to fully resolve a technical issue that has been holding our devs back. 

New Fleet Leader Forum
As noted in the previous thread, our web devs have had their time taken by the Amazon project which has lead to unfortunate delays on the opening of this forum. We expect to have the new fleet leader forum opened by the 15th of February at the latest. 
 
Ship Parts Reinforcement System
Full details are still being finalized and will be made available once decided upon. The system is on target for introduction into the test server soon followed by patching to the live server in March.

Harbor Assault  
TNF has taken players up on the offer to take part in observing HA. However, we still are lacking in necessary bug or improvement reports. Please send us your observations and necessary fix reports through a "Bug Report" support ticket. You may title it "HA Report".  This will provide us a great assistance.

Item Slot Max Increase
This has already been patched to the server. Player accounts are now able to hold up to 80 different items (up from 50). 

Great Battle 3 aka mid-tier battle room
This battle room aimed at helping players transition from Blitz is likely going to be called "Skirmish". It is on track to be patched in February. Details still adhere to the following setup:

Max Ships
BB/BC - 10 (5 per team)
CV - 6 (3 per team)
SS - 4 (2 per team)
PS CA CL DD FF - no limit

No SS mode option (SS will be unable to enter)

Max sailor level to participate - 83

All other options will follow in accordance to GB1  

Currently on the drawing board
Our team has just finished up some plans for some very unique changes intended for World at War. All I can note at this time is that the changes are meant to help provide a greater incentive and to engage veteran players.

There may be plans for a small event to be held in March. Details will be provided beforehand as they become available.

As you note, your updates aren't very regular, but since you already acknowledge that I'll just say thank you and I look forward to the next one :) (I mean the sincerely).

A couple of comments:

 - Fleet leader board.

Sounds like a good place to go to hear a bunch of old women complaining.

 - HA observers.

I hope this won't take TNF's precious time away from other important duties.

The current system of good will and fair play should be enough - and when it isn't, any HA capable fleet ought also be capable of providing any relevant information in teh form of a support ticket.... to reiterrate, good will and fair play should be enough.

Good will and fair play generally only exist on the losing side of a bug or glitch. Or you have found a really good fleet.

Thank you for the update Randy.

With regards to the bundle, is there any reason for 200 only? Will players be able to buy more than one? I do hope the item is not game breaking.

Also, regarding event notice, KarmaGM (I think, please correct me if I am wrong) posted on facebook about the first draft of the event, which was two days before the actual event. Is this Karma disecting the event from the Dev's, or is this actually him creating the event? It would be nice if things like this were posted on the forums too, as it gives a nice insight. However, there does need to be a bit of notice; a fair amount of players were taken by surprised from this.

Other points:-

1) Amazon Project

Is there any work on putting Navyfield on Steam Greenlight? Although, I do have two concerns with advertising the game; First being the player cap on servers; if player numbers increase (which we obviously all want), we want to be able to fit them on the server. The second is, currently the new player experience is very bad; there is a huge learning curve and not much for new players to learn from. GB3 helps, but there needs to be more guides, more training missions of a higher calibre, a new player forum on this site, etc etc. Vick11 said this discussion is to be delayed, whatever that means; I think it needs to happen now.

2) New Fleet Leader forum

I've never had this answered, but why on earth was the original one deleted when the new area would take over 4 months to be completed? Why is it taking 4 months? Why can't the old one return with it being moderated by the forum mods? Vick11 promised the community it would be back up post merge, but that obviously hasn't happened. Why should Navyfield and SDE suffer from Vick11's broken promises.

3) Ship Parts Reinforcement System

Its been said a number of times by a number of players including myself, we really hope Olives are not involved with this. We do not need another pay to win system in the game; Mines/Smokes/PHH/Boosts (and to a lesser extent, premium ships) are bad enough as it is. This system has the potential to add a new dimension to the game, if it is done right. Could we have a dedicated thread for it, with some more information from the Dev's, so that the community and SDE can work together to make this mode the best it can be?

4) Harbour Assault

Could we also have a stickied thread where people can submit bugs/suggest changes/put forward problems? The more communication, the better.

5) Item Slot Max Increase

Is this talking about sailor slots, or premium items?

6) Great Battle 3

Could the max Sailor level be changed to 88; This will prevent BB4's from entering. Also, if BB3's are being including, the BB limit should probably be raised. It could also be an idea to put a limit on numbers for BB/CV in Blitz when this room is implemented. One big point will be to make sure the exp amounts are better for these ships in this room compared to GB1, otherwise it just flat out won't be used; but the danger is, it could kill Blitzkrieg. This needs to be looked at carefully.

7) World At War Changes

I agree, the mode could do with some changes. Would it be possible to have a discussion with the community regarding these changes?

8) March Event

Would it be possible to have the details for the event at least 1 week in advance, with Q&A threads/full details being disclosed?

Its been nearly 2 months and there has only been two actions that have been completed, one of which was your promise for these updates (which i'm sure the community appreciate).

It seems like you are trying to help the community Randy, but I think its high time we had a head mod that supported the community and wished to communicate with the playerbase rather than subjugate them. There is no valid reason for that thread to have been locked, other than Vick was refusing to give the answers and updates to the promises he made.

I'll quote his final post here for those that did not see it:-

Is it expecting too much to have TNF/SDE listen to the community?  **Numerous changes have been implemented through player suggestions and there is no reason why that will not continue**

[b]Is it expecting too much to have a TNF written guide to TNF policy posted on the website that has already been approved by SDE?  **It will appear with the New Fleet Leader area as we have already said**[/b]

Is it expecting too much to have serial cheats banned and stay banned?  ** In the right circumstances and when SDE believe the lesson has been properly learnt such that a second chance is appropriate then it might well be too much to expect that.**

eventhough i rarely play anymore, i can see with those responses that vick is not representing TNF, SDE or the players but only himself

Vick, it is clear from your responses that you are far too disconnected from the community, do not represent community interests, and/or do not care.

You have been given countless chances to improve your performance and the game, but blundered all of them. It would be best at this point if a new capable head mod came into place.

Guess things are still the same around here. Communication between players and SDE is still at minimal levels. Mods chosen from the playerbase aren't willing to work for the players nor help increase communication with SDE and are to prone to actions influenced by emotions. I mean, being permabanned even when not breaking the rules? Lol.

Does SDE really want NF to grow or are they satisfied with whatever income they get from micro transaction items? 

Serious changes really need to be implemented. Simple answers like the examples provided by Ljsevern for the GMs or mods whether they do or do not have the answers go a long way to bring the players closer to SDE and increasing communication.

However, the players are not happy with the Head Mod. Perhaps it is time to look for another.

Regarding the new GB3:

-In the past the Fleet War mode was implemented, it wasn't finished and it didn't work due to balance issues and some bugs. So it was lost job.

-I heard something in another update about they were working on op convoy too, what is a great idea (that game mode has a lot of fun and possibilities if you combine it with Fleet Vs Fleet format and a good balance system) but ... shouldn't they fix the previous Fleet War mode?

-And now it looks like they are working on GB3 ...

Lost job + Lost job + Lost job = nothing. Having different lines of work is good, but maybe they should focus the few resources they have in finishing jobs instead spreading themselves in a lot of things.

Also, about new game modes or adjustements in the current ones i think there should be A WAY to discuss it with players because i think certainly players know better the conditions in the game, regarding balance issues (like in the Fleet War mode), regarding exp issues or regarding what people like more or like less. That really would help to SDE to use the few resources they have on the game more effectively and run the game better.

But since there is nothing similar to a comunication with devs, about what they can do, what they can't do, what is easy for them, what is hard for them .. ect , then  that's not currently possible.

 

About new players:

-Things like a dedicated default channel for low lvl players (like fleet channel or squad channel), things like a dedicated subsection on forums ("the corner of the newbie"?,lol), or things like encourage the posting of guides (with olive prices, yes, like other well-driven games do) maybe are good ideas for taking care of them, since the newbies are the future of this game and we want a future for this game.

-We propose these things, as many as a lot of suggestions, but as always we don't know if they reach the ears they have to reach, we don't know if they are considered or not, we don't know if they are "filtered" as noise, or we don't know if the comunication of TNF/GMs with SDE is as deficient as the communication of TNF/GMs with us, we basically don't know anything.

 

And finally, about the Fleet leader forums, maybe it's now time to realize what the loose of those forums represented for the community since maybe that wasn't very clear in its day. I hope if we finally have them back they don't get poissoned again.

I think they should have been the priority instead the Amazon project since it is well know for more efficiency is better to do the shortest tasks first, since that minimizes the waiting time. But for some reason that wasn't done, so one wonders about if there was/is a hidden or not-so-hidden reason for extending that waiting time. In that case that would be very, very, very unfortunate.
