This is a table of speeds of ships under lvl 50, and a few remods above 50.

The first pair of numbers is empty ship, no fcs, no armor, no crew, no weapons. just the largest engine unless it says otherwise.
The second pair is the same setup, but with a 50 ton sailor onboard.
The third pair is with a 100 ton sailor.
The fourth pair is with a 500 ton sailor
The last pair is with full displacement.
The top 10 in each category have been highlighted.
Data is as of july 20, taken from test server.

Photobucket resizes photos bigger than 1024 tall so i made it in two parts so you can still see it at full size.

I'm trying to understand this...

From what I see its purely weight/OH, no engineer calculated?

If not, then you have a few mistake as I see a few 41 knot, which isnt a cap.

Good initiative, but you should redo it for more clarity, mainly use base speeds if you dont want to bother with engineer ability, and put the max OH (base speed x 1,7, then rounded down) in ( )

Exemple : Ship Engine used (HP and OH ratio info) base speed (max OH speed)

You could include some option for some ship, as some got 2 possible engines, one offering better HP and lighter weight for exemple, but another one offering easier OH ratio.

Exemple :

Virtualexemple (CA II engine 140000 HP 84% OH ratio) 28 (47)
(CV IV engine 130000 HP 110% OH ratio 27 (45)

Let me clarify. this is with EMPTY ship and ENGINE ONLY, and a gunner with trimmed rookies for weight.

Whats the point? This chart is misleading and isnt useful at all as far as I can tell. Its not real situations with useful setups.

This.

And its honestly not clear.

Why would you care about empty displacement + 50, +100 and +500?

The point is quite simple: it shows you how fast each ship goes relative to each other, and with different loads. IE 500 tons of guns and ship people goes a certain speed. Look, if you want the info, here it is. if not, dont view this thread. i spend a whole afternoon working on collecting this data and i dont want someone to come yelling at me about how useless they think it is. if you think its useless, dont use it.

You fail to see the point silent. Ships have different displacements and some have more free then others with a viable crew/gun/engine setup. Just compare Northampton and New Orleans for example. With a Viable 3 gun setup and normal sized crew Northampton will go something between 44-48 knots. The New Orleans on the other hand has so much extra displacement a non armor setup will go 51-53 knots. That is why your charts are not useful. No one doubts you spent some time on it but your time was misplaced, instead you should have been using proper setups and perhaps also full displacement setups for the few ships on this table that can effectively armor such as New Orleans, Sirius, or L Class.
