• Basic summary of each nation's submarines?

I reached level 12 and it's time to choose a nation, and I want to use subs. All I know so far is that KM subs have proximity torpedoes, and IJN subs have long range torpedoes with a little more damage.

What about the other nations?

What advantages/disadvantages does each nation's SS have? It took me a very long time to roll 12's for my future SS crew so I don't want to choose one nation then find out I'd have preferred another's subs.

(there's also a lack of a Questions & Answers and/or New Players forum)

Trainworld's shipyard trees don't show how many support slots etc. each ship has, unless it's magically hidden in the available stats already and i can't interpret it. So as useful as that site is, it's not useful enough to make a truly informed decision on which nation to choose for SS.

actually you could see how many support slot in trainworld
http://trainworld.us/NF2/Ship_2010/00.html
look for the sailor on board,
e.g. mn ss4 argonaute, sailor on board: 4(4) sailors, the one inside the parenthesis is the support slot sailors

MN got stronger torps now a days, it got good deck guns, good speed, and ss4 is smaller than other nations ss4

SN got not idea, haven't tested this in test server, but i find it sturdy and could take a punch

Yeah I've been looking at as many different stats at trainworld as I can, and it looks like MN torps are comparable to IJN? They do a bit more damage but are slower and have a bit less range.

There's no info on SN torpedoes.

Besides that, is there anything at trainworld that shows which torpedoes are proximity? I know KM are but I don't see where it says that.

I'm leaning towards KM's SS line, but I'm still not sure. If there used to be a guide to all the nation's SS I can't find it. A few people have said KM have the best subs, and a few said IJN. Nobody said any of the other nations.

Like I said I spent a lot of time rolling 12s (and one of my torpedo sailors wound up with 12 accuracy too, but only 9 reload so he's remaining torpedo) so I do not want to make the wrong decision. I'm not looking for the best SS, because there is no best. I'm looking for information from experienced players so that I can make my own informed decision.

I know there's a few players that have SS4 of all nations and I'd love to get their opinions and feedback, but soon because my sailors are sitting at level 12 waiting for a nation choice. Something like this for IJN SS (which is from you phantom):
1) low air,
2) slow,

3) you'll need luck to reach to the enemy side (due to torp wall, bb will shoot at you if
your not submerged yet, high level ss will sometimes meet you up, cv will tb you)
That's the kind of info that's useful. I'd like to gather that kind of insight for all the nations into one thread.

you rolled a +12acc/+12torp?! wow. You should sell that 12/12 to some idiot who thinks this is the best sailor ever, and make some creds lol

No way he's mine :) He's classed as a KM armament sailor now with +22 accuracy, +19 reload, +20 torpedo. I didn't even realize he was dual 12, I was just happy I finally rolled my 2nd torpedo and only noticed after he gained a few levels.

(guess I don't know know to post images here, if it's even possible)

Why would you not sell that sailor? Torp ability is the only one that counts... If there is anyone out there that
thinks accuracy/reload matters for torps - you'd be making a huge profit off of them. Wait a sec I think I've just
answered my own question.

Yeah I'd also sell it. If you find someone who doesn't know how the torpedo ability works you could easily get a few millions out of these. The thing is +12 torp is actually not very useful for subs. The ability cap is at 850k true ability. This means a BVE torpedo sailor with a base stat of +10 will hit the cap at lvl 50 already. Given that most of your SS career happens after lvl 50 it would be pointless to have a higher base stat. Accuracy is not used at all on torpedo sailors.

The best torpedo sailors are elite repairers or restorers from the item store or super rare 12/12 repair/restore rolled sailors. This is because besides the torpedo ability repair and restore are the only abilities that work in the torpedo slots of your ship. And due to the notoriously limited support slots and the easy to hit torpedo cap this is a very smart way to get your sub more sturdy.

I love how everyone is encouraging you to scam a noob with that thing lolz.

IJN subs got +1 support slot unless I'm mistaken.

They however seem less maneuverable than KMs.

Most subs are IJN/KM/MN.

US and UK are overall inferior.

KM is great at nuking other subs. IJN is at best nuking BB5-6. Their SS4 can one-torp BB5s. Bulge and all.

Hmm so maybe I should rethink my choice of torpedo sailors. Maybe I'll spend some time and try to roll good repair/restore sailors with at least 10 in torpedo. Could take a while but I see the benefit. Not sure I want to spend money on elite sailors.

Go for 11 rep and at least 10 in torp.

If you can hit 12/10 even better. 12/9 will cap too.

Well I'm not encouraging it - the fact is, some people believe reload works for torps so it would be a matter
of satisfying those people. I'd never sell it myself or falsely advertise it as working but there are people out
there that specifically look for it and they'd buy it without you (seller) needing to convince them of anything.
