  • So, Navyfield in 2020. Worth returning to?

Silamon

Ichase recently uploaded a navyfield video. The nostalgia is strong, I am tempted.
I read that some of the old problems have been fixed, namely constant crashes.

I tried recovering my stoof years ago under the old management, they claimed I needed to upload a photo of my id for them to even try and get my crews back from archives.

Needless to say I did not upload a photo of my friggin id to recover an account of a game I did not even play anymore. I really wonder why that was even required in the first place, this is the only game that I needed to provide that information to recover an account in the last 20 years of playing online games.

So, assuming I cannot get my old stuff back, is the game worth starting from level 1 in 2020? Or is it just a waste of time? I still have the premium and event ships I had acquired over time, even have a couple vet and expert packs but nothing close to being able to bve another crew.

Since Corona I've raised 2 new crews from scratch to level 103ish. I have all my old stuff thankfully, honestly the 6 year break I took refreshed my love of the game. I never really left, always did HA/HD, but never grinded a crew in about 6 years or so (whenever Soviet Navy was released). The game seems more stable now, there are of course issues, some players will annoy you, some players tactics will annoy you, but its still fun.

The nice thing about starting over is you can build a proper crew from the start. I still have my old Beta crew from 2005 for my US BB6.....it still sucks. But its decent enough.

Do blitz games ever happen? Or is it only great battle now? Can't imagine playing a frigate in great battle will be any more fun than it was in 2013 haha.
And which servers are more active? I logged into South carolina and it looked like only one Great battle was happening at a time.
Edit: actually I just logged in again and it seems a lot more active than it was earlier, thats promising.

Yes, Blitz games still happen as well as GB games. Staying within the game or battle (Blitz) also gives you a chance to get Elites or Super Elite Sailors.

We have only one, international server. Those "servers" in the login screen are access points. You should choose the nearest to your location access point, but you can perform some tests and check which one has the best network experience (no lags). Of course if you live in US or Europe, choosing asian access points is pointless. Check european, american access points in this case (e.g. Frankfurt, London etc.)

I see, well that makes sense I suppose. I did notice the players in matches either did not chat or would chat in what I assume was Chinese. I can't complain too much, honestly surprised the game is still running at all.

I did get my old stuff back though. Now I have a bunch of bb1-4s with varying quality crews and no clue how to play them. I think I will just keep going with the crew I started last night since I was having fun in blitz.

i will say, after some awful rough times not so long ago, HK Kupai seems to have smoothed out game mechanics amazingly. occ. the chat decides not to work. BUT i have not had to delete/download game because of version or anything else in a long time.  no crashes for me except a rare computer fart from my machine.  lots of new ships if ya wanna spend money.  FP scouting and DB/TBWs are REVERSED in importance as seen by CVers now.  so have a good recon pilot.

BEST THE GAME HAS RUN SINCE OLD MISSOURI/ARIZONA DAYS.  NO LAG OR CRASHES.  HAs seem to still be desyncing alot causing finger pointing, but i have faith they'll get that fixed too.  no one else has ever made this much progress fixing the game.

trade system sadly is no more.  wish they could come up with some kind of option for that.

I started back on or about April 7th and as of today im lvl 124 BO and Gunners and the rest of the crew is at least 119.  I have an AA crew that is lvl 78 and Im working on a Sub crew lvl 61.

Welcome back!!

Trade system will never come back because it doesn't make them money, it lowers the amount of money they potentially stand to gain. I understand why they took it away, but it's awfully scummy.

I have just returned to check it out.

There was much progress in game stability and the lantency is really good.

Also the frequency of game-rooms is mostly sufficiant.

Therefore my answer is: Yes!
