  • Could use some BB crew advice

    05. 12. 2020 15:12

I've just started playing NF1 again and been leveling up my US BB line for the 1st time. I learnt that most people nowadays seem to go for as many engineers as possible due to unlimited OH and they would go as far as not having a single rep at all, and would reach repair cap using a very high amount of vet instead.

Well, I followed that route thinking that my full set of Elite Eng/boosted could do the same, only to realized that what they're using are Super Elites/250vetted. I'm not sure how easy is it to vet during the conversion event now, but I think I could still able to hit the cap If I somehow manage to vet each to 300+(that sounds very expensive)?

Therefore, I'm deciding whether to stick with my current crew setup to have a very good OH,which I think is more important, and a resonable repair rate with a fair mount of vets(120~200? or more in the long terms)? Or, stop progressing to level up a new pair of  repairs(either 7eng/1 rep or 6/2) in order to hit the cap? TBH, I'm not sure If it's that imperative to hit that cap, If I position myself poorly, I'd be dead regradless, right?

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

I am no expert, but here is what I did for my US crew. I played during Beta years ago but have been away for 6-7 years, so I started from scratch with all super elite crew as follows:

SE POT - BO
SE ACC Gunner 2
SE Engineer - 3
SE Repairmen - 4
SE Restorer - 3
SE ACE pilot - 1

I just hit lvl 120 today and I started back up on April 4th. My California does 40 knts for 130 sec and my repair is at 240 pts a sec. The reason i have 3 restorers is that they speed up the burn time so you can repair.  Every crew member is vetted to 109 with roughly 700-800 experts each and are all over lvl 110.  I haven't went back and played this crew in the monty to see what kind of speed i get but i was grinding to Nebraska.  Now I just need 30 million to get it, so I will keep grinding or maybe get the New Jersey.  Hope this helps!

PS. i have spent about $170US, don't tell my wife : )

When I was still active 6 years ago, my fleetmates/friends advised me to go:

1 BO
1 Scout
2 Main Gunners
4 Reps
6 Engys

But I decided that I want additional OH so I went in and added 2 Engineers. And I am glad I did it 6 years ago with the additional support slot on the new BB7, I do not need to level from scratch an extra sailor to be able to use it. (in case I get a 7)

With the release of high starting base stat sailors, others have made or leveled 2 SE reps and added additional engys, the repair cap of 280dp/sec was what others were after with as few repair sailors as possible, so they went to use a BO with high repair, scout with high repair and put atleast 270 vets to the engineers and reps to be able to reach the repair cap with lesser repair sailors (2 se rep).

I do not have much money to spend on NF so I have been content with what I leveled, they have an average of 160-180 vets, I have a few expert packs left so I would probably not burn the remaining experts on my sailors, the average Rep rate and OH of my setup (3/7 or 3/8) is around 200 dp/sec and 250s  or soof OH time.

My current US (and others) sailor count are: These are elites not se/hero or x

1 BO
1 Scout
2 Gunners
2 AA Gunners
4 Reps
8 Engy

Thanks for the advice guys!

I've deicded to go for 5eng/3rep, as this could cap rep rate and have almost 5mins of OH with exactly 200 vets each, which I think should be doable with 400% events. I'd probably go for 8 engies in the long terms too, If I can get lucky with BB7 or more vets.

Just remember that the BB7 has a total of 15 sailors, 1 more than the BB6 so if you are having AA on the extra ship slot, you need 9 sailors at the support slot (1 is already occupied by the scout)

My advice is level 2 or 3 more engineers so you can play with your crew combinations.

You can go:

1 BO

1 Scout

2 Main Gunners

2 AA/HH Gunners

2 Reps

7 Engs

Or
1 BO

1 Scout

2 Main Gunners

3 Reps

8 Engs
1 BO

1 Scout

2 Main Gunners

2 Reps

9 Engs

I am trying to do the 3rd one. I already have an extra set of AA/HH gunners for most of my nations, just trying to add 2 Engs each to some since I already have 7-8 Engs in some of the nations.

Isn't it a bad idea to not have AA at all? Seeing literally everyone is running an non-AA setup and CV players tend to go for BW nowdays. I've been like the only few who's AA-ing in most matches. lol

How do you get more than 109 vets on your crew members?

Its actually very useful. But personally I do not use AA as much as I should have, sucks at aiming AA. Hahaha But its quite handy to have a pair in case you wanted to.

Oh, I haven't yet, this is just my long term plan, something that I might do when a 400% vet conversion rate event happens again. :P

You need experts on each of them either on the crew itself or experts pack dropped from events or from store, modified vets conversion rate.
