Use compatibility mode on NF launcher. Set compatibility mode to win 98/me and run as admin. Disable visual themes and desktop composition.

I've been crashing quite a bit too, yesterday it was 1/5 games. I'm gonna try compatability mode, I already ran it in admin though. I have Vista home premium 64 bit.

Get rid of vista and install Win 7, way better than breaking u'r head on getting to run NF on vista without crashes. I did this and my crashes have reduced dramatically. If it doesn't crash once in a while, then its not NF, right ;-)

Agreed. I currently run it on 7 and I do still get a few crashes, however I usually get in many battles first. More stability for the game would be nice though.

Could you give a few pointers for those of us that have no clue as to how to do that please?

Now we are happy if there are only 1 or 2 crashes a day, but do you know all the other online games I am playing never crash for years?

Right click on the icon you use to start the game. Go to properties and select the compatability tab. The rest is pretty straightforward.

Find the NF folder on your hard drive (for me it's C:/Program Files/SD EnterNET/Navyfield). Right click on NavyFIELD Launcher.exe and select Properties. There should be a Compatibility tab on the top of the window you just opened up. Check "Run in compatibility mode" and select Windows 98/ME from the drop-down menu. Also check "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition." That should be it.
