  • Hiryu again

Hi all,

I'm coming up to my Hiryu and I'm wondering what I should do with it. I have 3 FPs and 4 DBs all at level with BO (so 64-ish at the moment).

I chose IJN CV line because I wanted to bomb but obviously I want a balance of play (not 100% BW), so I have a few questions.

Shall I set up my pilots 3/3 or 2/4? (that's 2 fps, 4 dbs)

When I go into battle, shall I load first 8 FPs and send them out then 8 bombers or the other way round? Who should reach the enemy line first?

Finally, I currently Local-whore in my Ryujo (good credits!). Shall I run locals or T2s in the Hiryu?

Thanks

As I started recently to level a CV crew too, I would like to take advantage of this thread to ask a few questions too. :)

What are locals? They are by any chance those fighters with low fight range but great speed and firepower?

And how does it help to have more pilots of the same kind? Are planes launch faster, have better stats?

Thank you.

yes locals are those fighters.

You have more pilots because when you play CV you do not load max planes per pilot. So if you can launch 8 planes, it's much faster to load 4 planes on 2 pilots than 8 planes on one pilot. Also it gives you more flexibility with where you send them, and if you have pilots not used you can react quicker to the battle e.g. always have fighters prepared to defend yourself.

BUT I would like to say, please avoid hijacking people's posts in future.

Can I now draw your attention back to my original questions?

Thanks

I see. Thanks for your kindness. :)

So back to the OP, I think T2 are better, gives you more flexibility. :)

Since the Hiryu has 8 launches, I'd recommend the 2/4 setup over the 3/3 setup. I think you should still be running loc fighters, unless you have über fighters. In the beginning, I would send bombers out and try to take down an enemy cv. You can launch bombers faster than most cvs cuz u launch 2/2/2/2. From there on, depending on what your opponent have, you can be flexible with the rest of your planes.

Hope this helps

that sounds like a really good plan, although I am very worried that I won't get my bombers to the CV alive with so much AA and other fighters. Might try to use those first 8 bombers to take out or weaken a BB3/4 or a PBB that's rushing since I can get to them to the front so fast, then in the meantime load 4/4 locals to respond to their first fighter wave. Then go from there.

thanks very much for the advice, it's given me a direction to work on!
