Which subs did you test this with? I'm under the impression that it's not the same for all subs.

Derm, if you are looking for a yes or no answer, you might not get it.
Richardphat has already answered this question.

Hi Nyerkovic,
yes I thought I was asking a straightforward question but mentioning subs brings out the worst in some people.
Richard says that he has tested BO's skeletonised and otherwise and that answers my question.
Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Critt. Dive time depends only on speed of SS when you're critt. diving?
It doesn't depend on BO level or BO operating skill?

So the only reason not to ghost your BO is detecting enemy torps a little bit earlier (and some minor SD and reprate boost)?

Correct me cause my SN BO crew is starting to get fatty (with full crew on every sailor my SN SS4 still has 1 inch of belt and some bulkhead and bulge :D ).

For SS, I have a KM BO that has vets and some experts and another IJN BO that has just 1 rookie. Only difference between the two of them is the sight range above water... nothing else... and it's not a big difference either. Sight underwater is provided by the Sonar-man.

So to answer your question... I would say yes, the only reason not to ghost your BO would be SD bonus.

How about an exact answer. Anecdotal experiments are not programming logic. What does the code say? You're a lot closer to it than any of us. What do the programmers say about BO and Critcal dive.

I tested critical dive moving.
But seeing I have to prove 4-5 times to prove 1 idea.

For a UK SS4
I'll just say this. It is probable that speed and critical diving has no effect, as the result of my UK SS4 shown.

I'm just as close to the code as many of you are. So unless it's tested with the code in hand (which I can't do since I don't have access to the code, I can only state what I experience.

You should release this video also, we should have a sweepstake for what the sub players claim is wrong with the test this time.

Possible Excuses:-

You was in a normal room not a GB.

Sub players lag more so need to be given easier timings
