Well, i just got it and i was wondering what is the best setup for it (armour -wise,
gun-wise, engine-wise, etc.)

this is my current setup:

ARMAMENT:
5X dual 8" D with 3 bind of light HE (would take the N version but i could only bring one
bind :/)
no torps, 4 scouts (2 pilots)

ARMOUR:
about 10 bulkhead

ENGINE:
CL engine III heavy

Belisaurius
5 x dual 7.9"C version D guns. (3 binds light HE + 1 bind AP for Armor whore Brits).
No T slot guns
CA II Heavy Engine
4 normal scouts (Used to use 3 fighter-scouts for kicks)
10 Bulkhead Armor
Maxed Crews (T slot crews can be anything you want trained at the moment. For me, a low
level repairer, and a rookie pilot. But for your "ideal battle" crew, you only need 1 pilot).

With my current setup, I'm running 33/48 knots. This build depends completely upon speed
and tactical positioning on the map. Fighting at range eats a lot of ammo, and since
you're running a lot you're most often one of the last ships. So I find the 4 binds of
ammunition with 7.9"CD guns more helpful than 3 binds of 8". Use the shadows, your speed,
and your range to poke away at the enemy. Always fight at range against everything (CLs,
CAs, etc. Try to avoid DDs if at all possible).

CL games: Stay behind Brooks/Edins and act as their fire support (#1 goal = Focus fire on
the enemy and kill them ASAP, to keep your shield ships alive).
CL/CA games: Always try to attack an opponent from the dark or one that is occupied
firing somewhere else. If they being firing at you, just begin dodging or run away and
wait for your CAs to get their attention. Then come back and sting away again.

From personal experience in the mpro, the Mog is the best CL out there, but you don't have
much DP to work with, nor do you have armoring on your side. Try to avoid any yorks, or
particually powerful CAs.

My current setup:

8" ED's x 5
no torps
no AA guns.
CA Hvy engine
manual FC
4 scouts

I cant remember the exact armour scheme, but its something along the lines of 1"
deck, 2" belt and the rest on bulkhead.

lvl 44 BO
lvl 49 Hvy Gunners x 2
lvl 34 2nd restorer
lvl 32 2nd repairer
lvl 22 support
lvl 30 AA gunner
lvl 32 Pilot

All crews are maxed out.....another error I made in the past that I recently rectified.
Without maxed crews you dont gain as many experts, typical noob mistake.

The lvl 22 support sailor is a serious mistake as he gets -50% or so on his exp gain,
but I have no way of getting another restorer so I gotta do it this way.

As a Jap cl, speed is your armour, lurk in the shadows and snipe. If you get into a
gunfight yer in trouble.

You will gain more exp in cl/ca rooms than anywhere else, but beware the York!
Especially the gold bars, they can sink you in two shots....as has happend to me on
a couple of occasions.

Get rid of the 8' D's. You'll have more range with the 7.9' then you'll ever get with
the 7.9' on that ship. Until you get the CA remodel then upgrade to the 8' Type 3E
L's. But the D's have the worst range and the damage is about the same as the 8'
anyway. Also you do not need 2 pilots, get another support sailor and get a CA
engine so you can get better speed.
