Hi all, I am under 20K XP till I get my first BB, the Nevada, and I am wondering if
there are any suggestions/tips from those that have played with it.

Things like armor configuration, best guns, put on scout or not, best ammo etc....

Thanks in advance

The triple 12 L guns actually have the most range at this level.

If the idea of still using 12" guns offends you and you don't mind 15% less range
and only 2-3 binds of ammo, then the twin 16"/ 45 cal Mark 1 L guns are a nice
choice. you get those at lvl 64. The N variety packs more ammo, but youre down to
about 80% the range of the 12" L guns.

At level 69 or 70, when you upgrade your ship, you have enough space to mount
the twin 16"/ 50 cal Mark 2 turrets with good amounts of ammo. These are your
best range and damage for the upgraded Penn and Tenn boats.

It seems to me as if everybody is echoing Blade. So, to take things one step further:

Since all US 14's suck, what guns are suggested on the level 65-66 Penn and Tenn?

That's in Bismarck. In POW, the spreads tend to not be good enough yet to kill anything
quickly.

its just my preference to go with the more range gun with less ammo. If you think
about it, what bb does the triple 12 range? Might as well go with the L's so you can
get in range quicker and get in a couple good hits. But seriously when you get to BB,
range matters, 1 bb salvo can kill you

hey srt4, since I know you've gone through it, is it really that bad? I was happy with
the XP I was getting in my Alaska with 12"N. It just seems to me that 3 extra barrels
and a smaller ship would offset the lower speed and less armor ( I think Nevada
carries less armor than Alaska but not sure)

Just curious, since I've decided to go the Nevada path instead of continuing the
other way.

Blade, just a personal opinion, but I'd rather have guns with a bit of a range
disadvantage than be down to 2 operating turrets very quickly in the battle. Trying to
match a proper BB broadside with 6 12" shells probably will get you killed faster than
losing that little bit of range does.

This applies only for the 14"/45 Mk 9 dual and Mk 10 triple, as the range on every other
14" gun is abysmal.

the way i did it with nevada was that i used triple 12 L, 1 bind on the inside guns is
enough to get you xp. All i did was rush so i could get a few good hits in and get
killed everytime, its the only way to get xp out of that thing
