NF's game engine is getting outdated as new operating systems like vistas emerge.
I suggest that NF switch to a new game engine. This is good for the game's future market
as its graphics and control getting better with new engine. A new game engine also cause
much less problems like crashing and lag.

In fact, use 2D stuff to simulate 3D is a lot of work. However, if the engine is 3D, it is
very easy for the programers to update and maintain the game.

In term of long run cost, it is not economical to maintain a game which has outdated
engine. As the new operating systems and system patches continue to roll in, there will be
continually a lot of problems to occur---more occur as more are fixed. On the other hand,
if the game changes to a new game engine, then it gets better suited to new operating
environment, in which less problem occurs. Of course, the maintain cost becomes much lower
at this point.

This post was created like 3 years ago, and no, $DE has opted to keep the current cause it
works enough.

I believe that the Navy Field Game Engine must be updated to improve the games
performance and graphics, by doing this people would still be able to play regular
NavyField with their accounts in tact and not have to start all over with this NavyField
3D project that has been talked about for how many years now..
So I suggest that SDE upgrade the game Engine for this NavyField.

I like the 2D view especially the low system requirements...
The only improvements on the graphics I whish are more detailed shipmodels, especially
when zooming (no more blurry names or sprites)... why is there free zooming anyway?
Is think most players zoom out as far as possible... so two zoom-levels should be enough
and the second one can be made better.
The second is to repair the flaws that come when simulating 3D in a 2D environment... like
changing gunranges or hitboxes...

Just One question, since NF is a Semi free game......

So who are going to pay for the upgrading the game engine??

It does not have to be that fancy like battle station midway. The new NF can still keep
its traditional characteristics (like 45 degrees point of view) while adding some new
features.

In fact, NF's control is much better than battle station midway. All I am talking about is
just about the game engine, a world setting.

i would pay a whole bunch of greens to see nf look like this -- PM me if you support this
"wont happen for at LEAST four years, at $DE's pace. (If ever)" - your so negative, have
faith for once maybe this'll turn out like subs =.=

i have terrible server lag also and its on nfs side i tried everything tested my line all
that jazz i have brighthouse roadrunner supposed 15 mb/s line service and i have done
torrents and ftp downloads at sustained 7mbs no problem but since the connections are
never perfect unless you are wired to a server you can never truly tell but other games
like bf2142 eve crysis online and all that i have nice pings and all that i even changed
some windows settings based on gm suggestions and i still dc every once and a while
i never heard of that engine any known games that used that engine ?? what about
finding an engine that uses similar files ie the spr files and mod it a bit might have to
map the sprites a bit for 3d texturing but might work
