  • Flagging Posts for Deletion

In my opinion, Any player on the forums should be able to 'Flag' a post for deletion. A 'Flagged' post should be highlighted towards a moderator who has the ability to remove such a post.

If a player 'Mis-Flags' (flags a post that does not deserve it) there should be a small punishment, administered at mods discretion.

Any additions / support for this idea?

I started this thread to try and see if the idea could be further developed into something more useful to the community.

The idea of someone abusing it that you are warning about was one of the problems i found with the idea, with the only attempt at solving it would be to have people who 'Mis-flag' punished, either in exp or something else.

Another suggestion i have thought is that perhaps a certain level should be required (on forums) to be able to flag. This may help with abusive behaviour slightly.

Any ideas?

I think that the only people that should have the ability to flag or remove a post as spam should be the mods. What right do we as players have to flag someone else post as spam. It opens the door to people flagged stuff by either players they do not like, or saying stuff like "There is already 3 threads on this topic, we don't need another." I think it is a bad idea. I think the savest idea is that if you think someone's thread is spam, don't read it, ignore it and move on. If the mods want to remove it, the will. I believe this was mentioned a couple of posts above mine.

If you read the post describing the point/exp system on the forums, it describes that post should get deleted or removed if they are spam or whatever. If 'bad' threads could be flagged, it would mean moderators would probably have an easier time 'Policing' the forums.

Any opinions? i'm surprised this has had so little interest

Why bother flagging posts for deletion? If you think a post is spam, don't agree with with or just plain don't like it, then just don't read it.

Yeah give each person a limit on deletion flags. ..my first deletion recommendation would be for that recent one about carmelo...Im just sick and tired of seeing the arguing back and forth....what a waste

hmm yes rattler you have a point, a flagging of a post may have to include a small note as to why it should be deleted to avoid confusion and abuse.

Any advance on my idea to prevent abusing it, to punish people who flag too much ? Maybe a player should only be able to flag # number of posts ?

I think thats a good idea...and it might make the mod's job easier. Then again, it might give em more work. I think mods like obst go through the forums anyway. But he/they might like this idea. But before you flag, you'd better have a good justification for flagging for deletion.
