  • What level gunners for 8" Duals?

Am a little confused, I have level 40 gunners and am about to buy a York ( I think ) and
looking at trainworld.us 8"duals are level 40 guns, though it says they require a heavy
gunner, which means they need to be level 42!!!!

What level do I need to be Arm my York to a level better that my maxed out armour whored
Sirius, can anyone tell me please.

So general opinion is Go County Route? The York isnt as good a CA then!

Does the KGV run out of stock as easily as the Nelson?

County is awesome. HA guns PWN. I wish I could see where my shells land at 55
degrees :) Its sooo far that the only way to see is if you see huge numbers come
off York's deck . I have 900k of armor on this bad boy with full crews.

The County is a fine ship, as long as you can afford armour for it and learn to high
angle. You'll need at least 400k credits for armour to make it worthwhile, ideally
much more. Guns for it are the 8"L (level 42 I think).

From what other people have been saying, the York only becomes really usuable
from level 45 when you get the 3x8"L, so you might be better to stick with the sirius
or go with an Edin for a few levels (the 3x6" guns are great DD killers) and then
make the switch to CA later.

BTW, the level 40 8"N guns don't need heavy gunners, but the L and D variants do
(lvl 42 & 44 IIRC). You can fit the Ns on an Edin, but you only get 1 bind of ammo if
you do, so bad move...

Cheers for the advice guys, though now I am even less certain about getting a
York. . . . . .lol

If I do go Ed. route I will go stright to the County. People always seem to slag that
ship off though, Is it really a waste of time or is it as good as York?

Why go york? U wont get a good bb till lvl 60, Nelson's out, hood isnt brill And has
no scout and then u have to wait about 20 lvl for lion.. go edin m8,, much more
choice.

O and dual 8" is on lvl 40 then lvl 44

my Dual 8" came up for me when i got my Edinburgh (Ha ha laugh all you want) at lvl
40-41 gunner, and somehow...you dont need heavy gun for it :-P but for the later
classes (L,D) I think you have to up it to Heavy Gunner.....and btw...GO FOR YORK!
THAT IS A BLOCKSHOTTING MONSTER!@

If you're going york train up a second BO to go the other line. York is very good for
training your sailors, but the BBs just cannot compare to the Edin line. Basically what
eny said.

If the guns need heavy gunners, then you have no choice but to wait until lvl42.
This happens sometimes, not really sure why.

As for choosing which ship to use. If you want armor and want to access great BBs,
use Edin line. If you want to blockshot 8" triples and stay around until lvl70 Nelson
BB gets restocked so you can blockshot more, go York. However, going York you
basically reduced any chance of armoring your ship unless you choose to mod to
Surrey, which basically defeats any purpose of going York route because you'll be
rather miserable playing in Renown and slightly less miserable with Repulse. The
Edin route provides great ships all around with exceptional armor, just that they
have average guns until lvl56 Revenge. Though the dual8" high angle guns range
the triple8" blockshot guns. So choose wisely.

i know that mine showed up at 44 and that two versions were available at that
point but not sure if they were available prior tothat, I didnt look. Hope that helps.

And IMO go York, the edin is a HUGE target.
