  • 8" trips on cleveland

I was wondering if anyones has an idea why i can't get ammo of 8" trips on the
cleveland. Both my gunners are level 44 accuracy heavy gunners. The 8" trips
require level 40 (if i remember right). They will allow me to purchase the guns but
when i try to load them with ammo, the amount flips to 0 and won't let me buy any.
Does anyone know why this happens?

I used Cleve for a long time... 8" duals are great guns but 6" trips have their place too.
To and no you should not necessarily HAVE to drive the brook to use the 6" trips. I know
it has 1 extra R slot over the cleve, but cleve has advantages over the brook that still
makes it effective with 6" trips. An example of this is its AA suite, which I have used to
great effect on my Cleve. 8" duals are useful against CLs and CAs, but your loosing 3
barrels in the process. Most Cleveland skippers are not skilled enough with their shots,
nor are their gunners skilled enough, to land all the 8" shells on a rushing DD. If you
are going to dispatch a lot of DD, use either the brook with 6" trips or the cleve, cause
unless you have very good gunners, only about 2 - 3 DD will be necessary to rip your cleve
to shreds. This should leave a bad taste in the mouth of anyone who just came from brook.
I mean, it is unfeasible to use 8" duals in fights against DD... I know from experience.
Unless your going to be in a CL/CA room... that's a whole different story.

Seriously, if you're using triple 6's, you should be driving a brooklyn instead. 1 more
turret. the dual 8's are longer ranged, hit hard, and allow you to pwn CL's and CA's
like you never could with the trip 6's.

"don't forget to use AA guns on your T slots"

He means guns for AA, not AA guns... AA guns require AA gunners. you DO NOT WANT US AA
GUNNERS. Use reload gunners for AA.

True, you can squeeze the 8" mk13D guns on there. You have 135 space and the
guns take 133 space. But AMMO takes space too. 1 bind of ammo (any type) for an
8" gun takes 4 space, and you only have 2 space left.

Use the 8" mk11 N dual guns. They're awesome guns. And don't forget to use AA
guns on your T slots (5/38 mk38L or 3/70 mk23N), as this CL has one of the best AA
gun setups in any cruiser in the game.

You can only feasibly mount a gun if you have enough leftover space to carry at least 2
extra binds with it. So no, the Cleve can only mount the dual 8" N's at the most.

Yes, you ot of gunspace. The 8´s take exact the same ammount as the gunslots have, so no
space left for ammo....
