im in a yorktown at lvl 74 with my guys around 70. i run a 3-3 or 4-2 (no torpers, just
DBs)

ive been experimenting with a rush in a 3-3 where i launch 8 DBs, let them circle and
launch 8 ftrs (this is a suicide run) and attack the enemy carriers right off the bat.
the fact that ftrs have little fuel and the bombers have to circle dooms them but i get
plenty of extras. anyways, ive had GREAT sucess with it. 90% of the time i get
through with my bombers undamaged and its usually a scout that eggs the fighters
away that gets me. my only problem is that i usually dont have the muscle to finish
the job with only 8 DBs. smaller carriers go up like an ammo dump but big 1s burn.
so unless im the biggest CV (rare), i usually dont bother and just 4-2 fighter whore.
but when i get to the lex/tike/midway, can i do this?

I don't have a US CV actually, but the answer is yes I believe --- US bombers are quite
balanced.

Only drawback for US TBs are their color is so obvious, IJN and UK TBs are somewhat harder
to detect.

I have an unrelated cv question, but didn't wish to start a new thread/necro an old one.
The only threads here, at least that I found, discussing US tbs v dbs were from 2007. They
stated that each type of US bomber is, essentially, equally good. Is that still the case?

No the best thread to ask that in, Greek. They're talking about carriers and
bombers, not actual rushing ships.

But to answer your question... try it and find out. I think you'll find that the answer
is almost always "no." =)

I sometimes do that in CV4 as well, with a full-wing of 3-3-3 DBs. But I tend to do naked
runs without fp escorts, so that my 2nd wave can provide supports to BB line before too late.

It's fun, but it's higher risk. You got to observe the opposite side very carefully.
Things to avoid --- AA ships, uber CVs. (And your BBs better scout for you early on.)

Trinityblood, you DO realise that he's not actually rushing his SHIP don't you?
He's talking about quick-launching bombers first in an attempt to sink an opposing CV...

probably not i wouldnt think its a good idea to rush because you might end up
getting blasted by many bbs im surpised you had this much sucsess i might try it but
at a low lvl you could nver do or in a big cv ship because you rack up easy points for
bbs and will be 3 or 4 shots dead easy. i see how it could work with the set up your
using but that would exoust full and then you planes will fall out of sky with no kill it
depends i have to know what planes and nation your using
