okay so after a year's worth of grinding I finally get to my nelson today =D . anyway i
currently have it set up for 9.2" of deck, .5 belt and 45 bulge, w/ 31 kts max burn and
900 sd ( this is w/ the 2 quad 14 n's in front) . my question is that do I have it set up
for maximum armor whoring ( is 9.2 optimal or should i go up to 10.0 ?) , should i use the
triple 16's instead for more range or rely on the quad 14's block? and is there any
magical number to improve armor effectiveness ( a while back it was 8.8 inches if i
remeber correctly)

You can have lvl 120 elite with 500 vets but u'll never block the 16" trips, because of the gun
cap...each gun has a acc cap(not the sailor accuracy ability cap), so at a certain point a lvl
100 or lvl 120 will have the same
accuracy...That's why when you get like a dd, and put lvl 100+ gunners to use those 5.5"-
6",they still won't block, even with over the top ubber gunner for them

I run Nelly with the new improved RP12s. The ones you run on Repulse. With lvl101
11/11 acc gunners with 160+ vets and 600+ experts on. 303k highest attack and
run 9 inch of deck and support of 1 lvl99 engi, 1 lvl 96 engi, 2 lvl 76 engi, 2 lvl 97
reps, and 1 lvl 98 rest, all BVE. Think oh is around 36 knots for like a minute, or
minute and a half lol.

As far as I'm aware, the only BB guns that actually block are the quad/dual 14 N. Some of
the sets with better accuracy revisions might get close, but beyond that...

i swear we saw it block..... i even tried my friend's bb6 gunners on my nelson but it
did not really meet our expectations.... perhaps those types of gunners are for TNF
use only!? people say the reason players are applying for TNF bcoz they give away
gud sailor stats...

When I was playing my Nelly, I had 3X 14" Ns, and at that time my OH speed wasn't that
good either, 39 knts if I remember. I was speed wh0red not armoured at all. Picked my time
to rush and I was breaking over 100k attack just about every other game.

Tactics with the nelson tend to involve: being able to see your enemy, see the
battlefield, and then picking a particular time to rush and making sure ur aim is dead on.

As an interesting sidenote, using the blocking 14s, if u land a nice salvo on most BB3s,
they're dead, if not, dead in the water, most BB4s and up tend to panic if u land
something like 10 outta 12 14" shells :)

Happy hunting

Ah. I had no idea about the all or nothing for armor.

I assume the RN number isn't close to 5 inches is it? Out of curiosity, is it 7? 10? 13?

a little tip: 5 inches of deck won't help you anything, sadly in this game the armor
system is "all or nothing" meaning that you can either defend yourself succesfully with a
certain amount of armor, or use 0,1'' less of armor and you'll get full damage

take that deck armor off and if you want you can either use the greater speed to rush
easily or add it to bulge armor so subs don't rape you

Thanks for the advice guys! I took kind of a hybrid approach to it.

I loaded three triple 16's and about 5 inches of deck armor. I can hit about 35 knots
with my three engys and my scores have vastly improved.

I've gone from about 25-35k per battle with the quads to 75-100k per battle now
and my 16 inch spread isn't too bad at all. I can also take a number of salvos from
higher BB's and still survive long enough to damage or sink them in return.

As my gunners get better my scores can only improve :) They are 85ish now and
the spread is pretty good.

I appreciate the feedback!
