Well, some think Vanguard is junk, and others think its perfectly fine...

I think a good way to fix this is maybe to change the turret setup of the Vanguard to
Trip Dual Dual Trip. With the 30 deg angle, its easier to hit, but with the spread,
even at higher levels, makes it not worth using over the L1. The whole point of the
Vanguard change was to make it a long(er) range BB4 (In comparison to L1). But it
lacks the firepower (and or spread, yes debatable) to be worth using over an L1.
You can SW an L1, you can AW a L1, and it has the firepower to use two trip turrets
without actually sacrificing much. It makes the Vanguard's range advantage moot.
I've only seen a few Vanguards since the patch, its pretty obvious that theres a huge
difference between L1 and Vanguard.

With the Trip Dual Dual Trip setup, the spread could be slightly tighter, increase the
gun accuracy slightly, and firepower would obviously made on par with a BB3 if not
BB4, since you do the same damage as QE can at higher range as it is now.

I also understand that playing L1 to L2 keeps the same general playstyle, so it is
easier to use, there should (needs) to be some kind of incentive for at least some of
the players to use Vanguard, at least, not only because of the "Oh, I did this line,
now i'll go this line" concept.

In the end, L1 is just too versatile to use the Vanguard over it, you might as well
stick to your PoW or Nelson than using Vanguard. Quads hurt like hell when they
land, and the 16 trips on Nelson also hurt like hell with decent range and excuse the
l33t speak, uber gun placement. And if you use quads on a Nelson and land a block,
its usually GG for that bb (again, debatable).
