  • Breaking up the grind and earning creds for CL2/CA

Long story made short. Its been about a month since I returned to NF and been playing a
1-2 hours a day and have leveled up a fairly respectable crew to CL level at this point.

Problem is.... I've been getting plenty of EXP points and leveling pretty quickly, but I
am finding myself low on creds/points. In my shipyard I have an Emerald and a Sirius. The
Emerald is my primary ship. So I need some ideas on what I can do w/ what I have to earn
up the bucks to get into the Edin or at this point I may end up at York/County level --
depending on which BO I am leveling.

The only idea I have come up with is set up the Emerald in AAW/ASW mode and hang out in
GB/GB2. Of course this would involve learning how to use the RP10s to AA, but I am willing
to learn.

what other possibilities are there? Of course donations would always be appreciated but I
don't mind doing this on my own.

don't get the CA's if u're going to play in GB.

if u're playing in blitz. keep them. there is nothing more out of place then a county in a GB.

i've levelled one of my BO's straight to revenge with an emerald. it's very much doable
and quite a lot less painful then the county grind, moving to the sirius at the later
levels as the xp gets too heavily capped.

the rp10 aaing is an essential skill. u need to know ur angles for aa. u need to be able
to hit the incoming planes first time.

i suggest using the N's for the longer aa range, usually means u have a second chance to
shoot before the planes come in under ur engagement range. D's have a faster reload.
put some LHE and AA on them. then just AA ur way to the enemy ships. batter them with LHE
till u die. u make more xp that way. if you just want the credits, only put one bind of HE
on just for subs/dds etc and aa at the back to ur hearts content.

to learn the basics of aa i believe nf-guides.com should be the place to go.

AA makes u a lot of credits. especially if you don't die. ur targetting should be
fighters>bombers>scouts (in most cases) since thats the usual order of most credit. tho'
ofc ALWAYS kill the scouts if nothing else is in the air, otherwise u're gonna get killed
by bb's from the dark

now. if you have premium. and some time.

roll some neuts as someone else suggested. and slap em on ur emerald with a throwaway BO
(btw, u can still AA on an emerald with a BO with no recruits on)

then just use the emerald as ur levelling ship. this will help ur gunners get over level,
and u can level 6 neuts at once for sale.

that's 600k minimum after 12 games.

50k a game.

Well maybe role some+12 neuts and sell them if u dont want to AA the whole day.

With the RP10s (which weigh a fair bit more than the dual 6/45s) and my crew I am nearing
max displacement. So base speed is 32/33 with a 41ish OH. With the 6/45s and no bulge I
can pull 36/42 or so. Don't quote me on this one though. If I go sub hunting I think
keeping the 6 inchers is my best bet since they pack more of a punch once the sub comes up
for air. But the number of subs in a GB/GB2 can be hit or miss. AAW still seems like the
way to go, but my gunners as they are (the originals given to you by NF think they are
11/11 base) don't give a really impressive reload. I already made the error of classing
them as ACC.

Now I'll be the first to admit I enjoy the Emerald and blasting away with a 12 barrel 6
inch broadside in blitz. I pulled in nearly 25k damage one game until I ran out of LHE
chasing down a 7" DDX. However I know I can get similar results w/ a naked Sirius.

I will happily donate you a little bit if you like, but... I think with both Sirius and
Emerald you should be able to sell enough to get an Edin, if not a York.

How fast does your Emerald go with all of the crews and stuff?

With my Edinburgh driving it with level 74 BO and ACC Gunners / 2 Reps and 2 Engys at
around 56 with a Sonarman at 39 and Torper at 36 I can go 30 / 31 knots with 50 Bulge / 3
Bulkhead and the 0.2 Belt.

I can sink SS1/2/3 but it depends on your timing and if the SS is busy. Best way to use
Depth Charges is to drop them either infront, ahead of the SS or beside and really near it
with which behind wouldn't merit you one shot success.

I might try to use a DD for ASW with DCs and HHs next time although I doubt I can do it
soon'ish.

I was considering using torps for ASW, since the Emerald (esp with my crew) is too slow to
use depth charges w/o sinking myself.

Though I guess it is AA barge and scouting whore for me.

If credits are your problem, don't use hedgehogs. Those drain huge amounts of money every
time you use them.

I would say AA is your best bet. Learn to AA, plink scouts and fighters, earn credits.
