Scout planes = life for a BB. In IJN you have to make this choice really just on the
Nagato as you can put enough of the good scout (the Saiun) on Fuso, B65 and Yammy.
In the Naggy I take the lower tier scout to have that extra plane.
I never fly below golden angle and I BVE'd the scout so that I could fly at a lower
altitude and not be as vulnerable to AAW and AA. Scouts at golden angle are a
pleasure to shoot down and boats with AA are looking for them, especially at the
beginning of a game.
Also be aware when CV's launch local fighters. As soon as you see them fly away as far
as you can as they can't chase you. If you don't fly away your scout dies.
I feel most sorry for my scout pilots as they seldom ever return from a mission since I
run them until out of gas.
