  • 16.1'' vs 16.1'' - discussion

since IJN forum is sucha boredomness, lets start a discussion with this small dillema
about the 1st and 2nd set of the IJN 16''

i must say that, when i played with my nagato to yamato, i didnt even bothered using the
2nd set, due mostly to negative, or not so positive, feedback of these gun sets.
When i was making the gun range tests, i come to some conclusions, which basicly were that:

1- range of the 2nd 16.1'' set has less range than the 1st set
2- damage of the 2nd set is the same as the 14'' guns, which is kinda low compared with
the 1st set
3- has faster reload, which is a good point.
4- spread are.... the same for the 1st and 2nd set, which is somewhat not good (imo)

in all these conclusions, i only saw 1 good, which i believe cant cover all other aspects.
So i rly wonder, how worth it is using the 2nd set?

indeed. I believe that this new ONF should actually do smth with those guns. Yes, i know
they already have the BB5, french nation and SS nerf to handle, but its stupid that these
guns, which are higher lvl, can be more useless than 1st set.

a good solution: was thinking about changing the dmg per shell, but what about if those
guns actually had better spread than 1st set, and remain the same dmg.?? i believe it
would be interesting

If we are talking about putting the two different D sets on the fuso ive already
tested it out awhile back ago, the first set has more range more reload time, second
set has less range way less reload time. Thats both using Light shells, the range
difference is like very very small but still somewhat noticable when tested.

I also feel that the 2nd set has less range~
anyway, the main point is the shell damage...that was really low for the 2nd set.

My preference is type 3, due to better shell damage. Reload is nice, but I'd rather to get
each shot to count more.

At least the change to the 6.1 A range means that the Amagi can fire a heavier AA broadside?

The whole bb34 "balance" was completely bs, sure we gained the ability to use a
second set of 16.1s, but the cost for it was way too high. First off, sure we can
mount the type 90s now, but they perform worse than before and aren't any better
than the type 3s. Then during the same patch, we lost the ability to fire HE from
6.1As which was the only reason for using it anyways, got a range nerf for the 4.7s,
oh and we lost all 3 of our 18" duals. I'm sure there's other stuff I forgot to mention.

In short, use the type 3s, less you want a challenge, then you can just run with 1
type 3 turret, which'll probably still be better than 4/6 type90 turrets.

I like the second set better because your reload time is better it's like 12.88
secs a lot closer to the reload time of the kongo with 12" guns.

I'm talking about the Ds for the Fuso btw

They have the same range, they were balanced as such. The difference is in shell
damage and reload time.

AFAIK, most people I talk to use the Type 3's because the reload advantage is
somewhat offset at high levels when the difference is cut by half (a bit more after the
Reload cap increase).

My bad. I didn't considerate the shell weight. The slightly better reload is the only plus
point for the 2nd set. I hoped that the ONF patch would make the 2nd set more
desirable, but I was disappointed.
