  • Questions for IJN Pros

Hey guys! I've been playing Navy Field for a while (as an IJN Carrier), but some of the
deeper points of the game still escape me. I'd like to ask a few questions to clarify things.

1. What is the best stat for IJN fighters? I know that the fighter stat is important since
it affects your fighter's attack, but I heard that I should balance it with the bomber
stat as well. If that's the case, is it better to get fighters with a higher stat in
bomber, or should I just class my fighters later than usual?

2. What is the best way to use your CV in Great Battles? Usually, all I've been doing is
use fighters to scout (first priority) and provide cover from other scouts (secondary).
Afterwards, after the enemy AA has cleared a little, I try bombing a few ships here and
there. I'm told that this is THE way to play, but I'm honestly feeling a little left out
since if I don't get to bomb any enemies, I get smaller exp/credits.

3. My fighters are currently level 75, so I now have access to the final tier of fighters.
They're also boosted elites, so I'd expect them to perform admirably. The thing is though,
my fighters still get eaten up by other fighters. And this happens a LOT. What am I doing
wrong?

4. Is it true that aircraft related stats don't have a cap? If there is, what is the cap
for each stat?

That's all for now! I'll probably post more questions if I think of any more. Thanks in
advance for anyone who replies!

because KM subs were more known during the war, and because they had torps that were a few
more efficient, in NF they deserved to have the best torps vs ANYTHING, as well as the sub
itself with best performance in most things, ie better sonar (sonarman), 2nd easier to cap
speed, best turning ship, highest DP, slimmest. while IJN has advantages over more support
slots, and highest dmg per torp, which is completely nullified by the 91% hitRate of KM,
US has the easiest to cap speed only!! and UK has..... nothing

historically, jap subs were great. (fast on surface and under water, longer range than any
allies subs) but here... lol is wat i have to say :)

The simple fact that elite FPs are 13/9.

Hmm. What makes you think that there is a patch coming soon that will fix the stats for
fighters? Have the mods said anything about this?

lol

How did he manage to miss the obvious way of fixing it?

""Even if they some how try to fix pilots( no more smaller crew growth with advanced
classing), it still won't make ace/sq leader fp's any better than the basic fighter pilot.

Fighter ability is capped and people do reach that cap, with both fully classed pilots
and the "unclassed" fighter pilots The statistical differences in performance for high
level FP's "classed" or "unclassed" are only due to plane differences and to bomber
stat differences.
Since classing further also decreasses your bomber stat, "classed" will lack a bit of
defensive ability compared to "unclassed" fighters.

Only when they remove the crew growth penalty and the bomber penalty for
classing will classed fighters be equal to unclassed fighters.
Raising/removing the fighter cap as well ( or instead of removing the bomber
penalty), is the only way to make "classed" fighters possibly better ( or different)
than "unclassed" fighters.""

my stomach turned 50 times reading this.

Non classed fighters only become superior to ACE fighters if you vet them to or very
close to the maximal 40%. If you cannot manage/afford to do this, a properly
classed ACE fighter will have more true ability.

if u look at the final difference in true fighter ability, you indeed notice that not
classing your fighters will finally result in a better fighter. However, this difference
is small, such that most of the fighter battles you play will depend more on your own
managing skills then fighterstats.

1 thing to note: at this time, the fighter and bomber stat are important. BUT i expect a
patch soon correcting this so that only the fighter stat is important.
this leaves you with 2 options:

- you eighter get 12/11 or something like this, with the highest possible fighter stat,
and a high bomber stat. This will allow u to use the current system and if they ever fix
the "fighter stat", you will have the second best stat there is

- u go with elites, and pray to god they change the fighter stat dependence. then u will
have the highest possible stat.

Oh man. It seems I've made a grievous error with my fighters. According to the data, it
seems I should not have classed them to Ace Fighter Pilots. And they were Elite/Boosted
too. >.< Ugh. Can anyone confirm that Fighter Pilots are better than Ace Fighters Pilots
before I decide to buy new pilots?
