The real fun is having shell marking issues with a semi-ve BO, and missing an *Alaska*
because of spread with semi-BVE gunners. (I've been messing around with my low level IJN
crews again. I swear, my Mogami CL is a wannabe M Project.)

edit: And yes, if you can hit the enemy ships (your ships' relative angles matter a lot),
dropping shells from 40/55 degrees does nice amounts of damage.

Agano does not suck, she is just fragile. In Great Battles, run her as an ASW platform
using hedgehogs, carrying scouts and the 6" guns.
In Blitz, run with torpedos and the 6" guns. Just remember, range is your friend.

The agano if you try to play it "DD like" you'll find yourself pwned by DD3 that are
smaller and will match your firepower (especially DDX)

The best way is using 7.9 and playing range. It got a decent enough speed to keep it, and
you can help a bit from far away. At any rate, you'll be in Mog CL soon enough, and that
thing is nasty. So long as you dont try to be a big brook with it, of course.

I do however have to say agano is kinda suckish as a CL1 compared to its counterpart.

Yeah, the historical Agano class had DD-like firepower. They were good for recon, but I'm
not sure about anything else.

*goes to do some more in depth checking on sizes. The Agano always feels fat when I'm
playing it. I was also thinking more in comparison with CL1s*

with full displacement, it goes 31/45 kts with no engineer. I believe that to be a good
speed for a CL. into what comes to its size, i dont think its that big, thought i believe
it actually should be smaller, as a preference :D

testing out, managed to make the agano 6.1'' go 31/51 with 1 lvl 67 BO (my CV), 2 lvl 100
gunners and 2 eng lvl 97, and still room for 4 bulge and 0.2 belt. if i remove 1 eng, i
can make it go 32/51 and a total of 10 bulge lol

now that i think of it, the real agano didnt used dual 6'' instead of the trip 6.1''???

Prepares you for what to come, however due to the amount of exp nowadays there's no need
to worry about how crappy it is since u shouldn't be in it for more than a couple of hours
max.

The Agano isnt a very big CL. Its size is smaller than a Brooklyn. But back when i played
Agano (Will do it again since i will make an IJN CV crew) the spread sucked.... HORRIBLY.
Range means nothing when ur spread sucks so much that you cant hit anything.

For each single shell i hit something with, i missed 10 shells. Only with higher lvl BVE
gunners your able to get decent spread.

TheFaller: The Agano's advantages conflict with each-other and are often offset by its
weaknesses.

It has long range (approximately equivalent to the Cleveland with one of the correct guns,
or comparable with some CAs if you're silly and use the triple 6.1 L), but a bad FCS (CL
1). The Agano's large size (for its class) and low DP mean that it needs to keep range,
but it has at best meh cruise speed and see the above on guns. And given its small number
of 'large' R-slots, DD-type guns are not an option. (You don't want to be outgunned by a
Yubari or Tsukikei, do you?)

Other aspects suggest that one should play the Agano like a DD, despite this being less
effective than an actual DD. The high OH ratio, good turning force, and rather good
torpedoes all tempt you to close in. The last are particularly evil, since despite their
effectiveness against rushing DDs, they help to make escaping those same ships impossible.

I've heard it semi-seriously suggested that you should take the Agano to GBs and follow
around friendly Nelsons with your large (7 T1/3, 5 T2/4) scout complement. Too bad that
your AA is so lacking... =/

....or with a sonarman, high level torpers, and HHs in the R slots its a decent ASW ship.

Some people have suggested high level dedicated ASW ships and an Agano remod with more
displacement,an FCS buff, and a fourth R slot would prolly fill the bill.

I remember seeing some Agano remod sprites including one with a fourth R slot floating
around a few years ago.............shrugs

The trick to the agano is to equip dual 7.9"s and hang back from the group. I enjoyed it.
Of course it helps to have gunners 5-10 levels above your BO.
