  • best way to armor yammy?

I take massive damage in my yammato. Any BB whether it is a BB1 or BB6 does a lot of
damage to my yammato.

I am at 900 SD

So, I'm wondering how I should armor the thing to reduce the amount of damage i take and
allow me to take more hits before i'm sunk. Can't put enough deck on to do anything, so
should i invest in bulk?

I got armour and also AA on my OH is 36 knots. I can still rush sometimes. I can also sink
a monty in 2 salvo. Level 112 elite acc gunners. 166 vets and 9 rookies. all experts. =) I
do see the reload speed is slower than US reload of a monty and UK. It seriously does. If
you say no then you haven't notice it yet.

Heck, I use no armor except bulge. Not even bulk. Engies aren't up to lvl yet, so my max
speed is 34 OH with AA on.

Monty usually doesn't 1-shot me, and I'm not at 900 SD yet! No deck, no nothing. I am
occasionally 1-shot by a lucky salvo where every shell hits, but it's rarer than you
think. And with a 3-gun setup and LHE you can 2-shot a monty with full SD at max angle.
Reload on yammy isn't slower than that of the Monty, at least not for me (yellow bve gunners).

Again, the trick is knowing where you're at and picking your targets and course
appropriately. Don't rush, and let them come to you, it gives YOU the advantage.

everyone changed their armour all the time so don't worry about saying it out =P Each
battle player will see their weakness and change again and again and again. No worries.

Uh...when monty's in my range, it's usually the monty sinking or close to sinking, if
not i;ll let him chase me, since he has lesser range than i do in chasing. When you're
out of range though, AA as many enemy planes down. if none, go straight and look
for him at the end of your guide lines, once you hav him, fire. BTW i'm in a Yamato
and hav taken a full salvo from a Monty b4 and didn'
t One Hit-KO. Don't invest in bulk for it's useless, buldge yes, and i've placed 3" deck
and 0.5 belt. (Note: I change my armor all the time and this is the recent one.)

LoL. I had 4 engy all +12 base full BVE and 2 elite rep man on yammy and I still survive
quite a few battle if I wasn't blind. If I was blind then I'm dead. I do AA too but once
BB was in my range I don't really care about AA. I can still put up some good with with
BB5. If BB6 it would be hard cause BB6 has a lot more range than me and their guns are
much more powerful than me. Even my 900SD and engies couldn't help it when a BB6 Nebby
full salvo on me. 1hit KO basically.

Secondly you need to play like cats and dogs. Move in and shoot if enemy BBs is in range
and move back. That require you to KNOW YOUR ANGLES. I always get sunk my SS in yammy
cause they always see me as a threat =X. So I had on 250 bulge and 0.5 belt and 5 bulk.
The speed is still good for me to move in and out of enemy line. Ever wonder why I put on
belt? It's because some DDs, CLs rushed in. And we BBs are too busy with enemy BBs no time
for the DDs/CLs. But please don't put deck on unless you're UK.

I tried to put deck on and it reduced my speed A LOT. My bulge also have to reduce to 80
or 90. There is no use if only have such little bulge. Just line an BB6 with only 30
bulge. Not faking but I've seen it before. Just a few torp can sink that BB6. Also missing
1 turrent behind yammy can be the advantage and disadvantage too. You losing much more
damage. As in like you can sink another BB with full salvo with 3 turrents but with 2 I
don't think you can. And taking that into account, IJN reload speed is slower than
KM,UK,US if you didn't notice that. So need to be fast at AA keeping enemy blind and know
your angles and deal higher damage so you can sink enemy BB faster ( which will reduce
threat you are in )

PS : Remember to move back and play protective mode once you get hit.

Why do you want to get hit more? Your goal should be not to get hit at all. Why are you
even in range of a BB1? That guy should have been vaporized long before. So many questions.
Regarding armor, yeah max out your bulk, that will help.

The best armor is more and/or better engineers. The second best is getting better at AA.
A shell that lands right next to your ship instead of on it will do at most ~10% damage.
(And probably a lot less) If you can make them miss by more (or fail to fire at all),
they do 0 damage.

"best way to armor yammy?"

Your joking right? lulz.
Please armor and weigh down that slow arse boat a little bit more so that BB1 can
bust you even harder.....cause you can't carry enough armor to stop from being BB1
raped.

Your best bet for armor on your Yammy is to stay in harbor. =.=

"best way to armor yammy?"

Easiest way is no armor. For ijn, speed = defense. If you can move fast, it makes it
harder for them to shoot you. IJN armor isnt really good enough to be worth putting
on a BB (bulge being the only exception)

Belt whore actually works pretty good too. Most of the time at least 2 or 3 shells will
pop green at max angle or close as long as you're not perfectly broadside with the
enemy. This in a sense is damage reduction too. The other benefit is that you can
reduce a lot of torpedo damage. In those close range fights that we sometimes deal
with can make you invulnerable. My h44 took a full monty salvo with no damage while I
was firing back at angle 20.

I get what you're looking for is a "damage reduction". Deck is probably the least
practical for a 3 gun setup. But belt can help from time to time. Give it a shot once if you
can handle being slow.
