Well to be fair, R-slot AA takes a bit of practice, however even if you fire just with the
Mog's front 3 turrets that is 9 x 6.1 bullets vs 8 x 4.7 bullets. Yes the 4.7 has slightly
faster fire rate but still you can't be a "great" AA boat with only 8 x 4.7 bullets. I am
defining a great AA boat as one that can wipe out all or most of a DB wave.

If you matriculate from MogCA to Yammy, the risk is not knowing how to AA (as the T-
slot AA is much easier) the risk is enjoying the AA way too much since now you have T-
slot aa with 6x6.1 bullets + 12 * 4.7 bullets - ripple fire, sky sweeping...so much fun.

I can only imagine Amagi with 6 x 6.1trips per side.

AA on this ship is NOT pointless. This ship will provide an introduction for those who are
unfamiliar with effective T slot gunning. For anyone who has fiddled with AA gunning
enough, we all know that T slot AA is far different from R slot AA, and often more
effective. The ability to shoot with all of your shells starting in the same place, not
having to cross your guidelines to use both guns effectively, and the enhanced ability to
aim with central turrets is something players have to get used to to play B65, Yam, SY and
Amagi effectively.

If you only AA with R slots, and get to Yam.... you're toast.

I would be tempted into using this ASW setup if it didn't painfully remind me that I can
pack as many hedgeogs into Algiere and still have 12 barrels of universal 6" AA ;)

And BTW i packed my Yamato gunners into Asama it still sucked through at least it was
possible to hit something :) It really needs access to 16" D as it had in past before Obst
the Japanise hater nerfed all ships we have below BB4 levels.

I might add, used with twin 14" at higher level - same applies. Anything you could
sink easily with those guns has too small of a hitbox to sink at range. Anything with
a big hitbox that you landed a shell or two on would then give you attention which
you probably didn't want (i.e. "eating BB shells")

@Michaelius - I agree, MogCA in AAW mode is a credit and experts machine. It is
really hard to shoot down anything other than scouts with only 8 x 4.7" bullets.

The only really good use I found for Asama, which is not at all profitable from any
perspective but is mildly fun, is to rig it as an ASW-vengeance ship.

Setup:
hh on the tslots
no r-slot guns
auto-aiming
load the ship up with your entire BB support crew putting that restorer which you
mistakenly leveled up as the BO and your level 100 bve gunners manning the HH

Now you have 900SD and HH which reload in under 30 seconds, bags of OH time and
speed and quick repair.

Hopefully you have a sonar man which you can then put on a dd to take as an
escort.

Go to battle and sink all SS4 and ss3 and any other ss. Since you will not earn many
credits or xp, you are doing this for fun, you are doing this because some sub pissed
you off in the last game.

So in 3 minutes all SS are sunk. Now you have to decide whether you want to skulk
around and look for prey or do a kamikaze run on some unsuspecting BB who can't
aim well.

That is the only good use I've yet found for the Asama.

That AA setup is rather pointless ever since 6" AA triples match range of 4.7 duals.

You get much better resualts as mogami ca aa whore.

Asama was built more for AA than torps in my opinion. The large profile makes it too hard
to close in on large targets to torp.

4 2x4.7" guns on that thing will shoot down a LOT of planes if you do it right. And, this
increases the number of experts you gain/your ability to shoot down a plane and gain full
experience in a great battle.

though. I wish it had quad 9" or so. even quad 8" would make me happy.

If you play like a german BB1 with KM40s (AA sniping), you should do fairly well in an
Asama. Otherwise, no, you're going to be eating BB shells.

Thanks for all your support. I got my Asama, ... piece of trash. There are only 2 guns
slots, Torps are 59, only 4 spaces more than Myoko, while Myoko has 5 gun slots. Why
having 1.5 times to live but waste 0.6 chance to kill the enemy XD. It's approximately
0.1 chance to win in a Myoko.

@ Encaimond: I'm afraid to say it but they're right. The Asama practically is the worst
PCA there is. I had it for about 3 months in order to try it with different crews and
different setups. Even tried to AW it (which is a sacrilege since that ship is meant to be
swift) but it STILL can take very little punishment. Only good thing about it is the
speed, the many T slots (TWing could work) and the ability to scout.

Shit, this got moved quick.

And in BO spots.

Asama is a useless ship at level unless you have wayyy to much BVE.

Though It's useful and quite fun at high levels and FLs.
