So does anyone think being a CV is a good idea for a first time navyfield player?

Regardless where you take more to the traditional BB route or the straightforward CV line,
I actually recommend you try the temporary 'AA-route'. They are many benefits to AAing
including

-No trouble getting into GB rooms because you're either a CL or CA or even a DD
-Next to CV's, AA'ers also get to earn plenty of cred AND you get to 'expertize' your
pilots AND you also get skill to boot.
-This will be your popular enemy next to Fighter whore CVs; if you can think and know two
steps ahead of your opponent, you can fly around them in circles over their heads. (It's
for this reason I recommend the KM line as they're the most feared AA'ers out there but
event the Emden has a blind spot.)

Oh and the GBs will never get tired of having 'too short an AA', even rooms with only BB's
you'll still be needed to take down scouts. CV players might complain about you though;
just be careful where and how you shoot. When you think about it, it's pretty ironic but
practical in the same irony as ASW to Subs.

KM has the best guns but the US line has it own good set too, just make sure you don't
ever class your sailors to AA gunners because that would be an Ass-move.

Instead get reload gunners, they'll still be useful especially once you get to CV3 and above.

Well it isnt easy doing for the first time, but if you can find a nice friend to give some
financial support, it could then become possible.

I would said YES.

now GB room are more friendly than ever before, sure some FT whore can still get you, but
since GB room get more ships, you will have more ATK and EXP, so cv grow faster in low level.

USN fleet some best and most flexible/COST=Effectiveness CV (like Independence I love)
IJN maybe good Idea if you want cheap CV which start very early, but as ft USN field great
ft, and whole fleet of air craft balance out on every aspect compare to other nation.

If you start CV line, your gunner will be at lv 50ish to 60 pre/post CA lv, which you can
leave it for BB set BO, and since you will sell your CA, try skip CV1 (I do skip CV1, and
use PCA lv my cv crew)if you don't have PCA, try make a KM nation line to just get AA for
Expert and lv up around lv 35-40, even you are small CV, just watch out for bigger cv ft
you will though their air defense line to make some ATK, besides since SS is bigger
thread, you can be SS hunting CV for just 50/50% ft/tb ratio and make approx 10k a game.

even my BB3 line will not make 10k game easy, which is very easy for a cv2.
if you sunk few small ship, exp will be huge too, 10k to 15k exp is normal.
and you will not spend much to bring a good cv to start (BB too, but later you will suffer
greatly if you don't balance out ENG/REP and many headache.)

CV need just a BO, maybe ENG/REP and pilot, and there is no problem with mix them,
but BB? you need to be very careful.......specially ENG will be your worth pain ever if
you just start.......

CV make easy/a lot credit to support your new BB line, just remember don't cross up higher
then CV3/4 (you need serious boost/exp upper CV4 KM is CV3), this little cv can be your
ATM until you get decent BB above bb3/4.

and you will learn more about DB/TB, since you are cv player, you will know those move
when you drive your BB (,.,.,.,.low/high aircraft,TB flylow, DB birddrop, line tactic etc)

there is no reason for why not start as cv, BB line is cool first but pain much longer and
worse than CV......I enjoy my cv way much than my ENG unbalance BB.

Isn't this the reason why there isn't so many CV players in the game? Most new
players are told to go the BB line, and those that want a CV go thru IJN. With less
and less CV players it is constantly getting more difficult to start a GB2.

I started with UK CV as my line. I suggest you get a cv first, makes financing another
ship later on very easy, remember that cvs are cash cows.

Fleet member gave me 100k to help buy my cv so it was kinda easy for me. If you cant
get someone to lend you money just keep on grinding, it'll be worth it.

I thought it was pretty easy to start a CV as my first ship. I did US navy but i also
had a premium account to boot. I should be futher along with it but I started bomber
heavy then quit, then made more fighters, then started a BB line bo decided i didnt
much care for that, started a sub liked that alot actually lol. But back to CV grind to
hopefully get a midway someday, just wish my fighter pilots were better seems the
only way to get kills agaist higher up guys is locals.

My advice is to do both. Leveling both a BB and CV line at the same time has many
advantages, especially if you have a PCA or PBB where you can use a sailor other than one
of your BOs to level your supports/pilots.

The downside is the cost of rolling that many sailors, and classing them all. I would
suggest picking one (BB or CV), leveling it up until you have the required credits/points
to trade, and then politely ask if anyone would donate you some points.

The only feasible CV line for a first time player is IJN. You will not be able to afford
the hulls otherwise.

Look into the Oyodo remodel if you want to CV early in your NF playing.
