Okay so I did search, and no one really addressed this. USN/IJN/KM BB4s only get 7 support
slots, which means that the standard 3rep/4engy/1scout support crew won't fit unless one
of them goes on the T slot. I didn't run AA before so it hasn't been a problem, but now
that I look at the awesome 10 T slots on the iowa it just seem like a waste not to put
them to use. How do people normally manage in this situation? Is Iowa's AA worth the loss
of a rep?

If I do take that 1 rep off, how do I keep him at par with the other supports? I know some
of you would say get a second BO, which I do have, but for it to work in this case I'd
need to level only that one rep without any of my other crew or the level difference
between them won't change, and trying to get an Iowa level rep to monty on a ship that has
no other supports just seems too painful.

edit: it was answered by stormvanger in game, but I'll leave it here if anyone wants to
discuss.

This is a tough situation that you'll hit in most BBs in any nation in NF. As Compass
said, rotate your supports so that the lowest ones are always on board. Use all five
engineers, since this will accomplish two things:

1) You'll have a higher speed + more OH time.
2) You'll want them to level as quickly as possible with your crew so that you can hit
the caps reasonably early in the Montana.
3) More speed = more range.

Then, use the 2 reps. More often than not, if you get hammered hard enough to worry about
rep, you'll get finished before you can heal it. If you use two decent reps, you should
be able to get at least 100-150 DP/sec by the time you reach Montana.

The biggest thing is to make sure you have 900SD at all times; it's unacceptable for a
BB4+ to have less than 900. So if you have to go without AA in order to add two
additional reps for the sake of SD, do that as long as necessary. Once you can hit the SD
cap with just two reps, play that way with AA.

That's my advice, and it worked well for me. Good luck :3

And lol:

"which I do have, but for it to work in this case I'd need to level only that one rep
without any of my other crew or the level difference between them won't change, and trying
to get an Iowa level rep to monty on a ship that has no other supports just seems too
painful."

>>>> The idea isn't that the supports are the same level. The idea is that the supports
are the near your first BO's level. When you level the other one, put ALL your supports,
etc. on board. The support may not catch the other supports, but you'll be leveling your
higher supports while the lower one catches your first BO.

I have a scout. I just didn't bother to mention it because it's not going anywhere.

You balance the leveling by swapping crew on as it levels up. I have 5 engineers, 5
repairers, and 2 AA gunners in addition to my BO and Main Gunners. I keep all 5 of my
Engineers on and swap off the Repairers as they gain a level on my second BO. I level my
AA gunners separately on a CA as an AA ship.

Example - 2 Reps @ 82.

Level 1st Rep to 83, remove it, Level 2nd Rep to 84, remove it, level 1st Rep to 85,
remove it, repeat.
