  • Next Ship on The USS line

    04. 27. 2010 11:31

Brigadir
So I have reached LVL 30 with my BO... my Gunners are 31 each. I am not planning on
switching off the DDX for at least another 5 or 6 levels, but a question lies ahead...

1 - Should I go with the atlanta or one of its 2 remodels?

2 - once I reach 38, 39, or 40... which should I go with: CA Northhampton or CL
Brooklyn?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Stop leveling your current BO, roll another, use your same crew and lv the new BO
till he gets to atlanta. In doing this you get your gunners further ahead of your BO's
and you give yourself the option to play both the brooklyn and NH line. Also if you
do this I recommend blitzgrieg as you will make more money. You can also do more
BO's using this method for subs or CV's lines but with those ships you will need to
level other crew as well, just remember to use the same gunners to get them
further ahead of your BO's.

From the altlanta up your going to want your gunners to be well ahead of your BO
to really enjoy those ships.

1. get the atlanta, if you dont like it then find the remodel that has only 6 main guns
and no other junk.

2. brooklyn all the way. Amazing spread if you skip the cleveland, balti is an amazing
ship. The only thing that can really be said for the other line is that you can AW
those CAs, which you cannot really do effectively with the balti but it makes up for it.

DDX

Omaha

Cleveland

Baltimore

Alaska

GUAM

CO

SODAK

This US line is one of speed and Driving. If you want to drive in a straight line. This
is not the line for you. As you can see i have Omited the Sevastapol...This is becasue
the POL will not help you learn how to play the US ship line. The Pol lacks the speed of
the US line. So as a diversion ok, but as a main ship i would aviod it like the plague.

Many players ignored the cleveland and that would be a mistake, this is the first AA
Capable ship you get. I mean you have to use both the R slots and the T slots as seperate
slots. You will arm the Cleveland with the Dual 8s and you can get away with loading HHE
or NHE...The range you lose will not be a huge deal in GB2s...the extra hitting power will
be nice...

Baltimore...its a really big Cleveland, and you will have better accuracy...

Alaska/GUAM, i would not pass this ship, its fast and nimble...agian with the 12Mk8Ns
and NHE...Hitting power will make up for your Spread...

Colorado/SODAK...Make sure your Crew is abotu 10 level above the CO before you use
it...The Ship will really be fun at that point...

IOWA...WOOHOOO....funnest ship i have in my fleet...Speed, Hitting power and AA...its a
great boat...

Monty....Firepower galore, boring as hell...The 110 are an utter disapointment...they
have one great quality...they cut through Armor.....

Good Luck....

I'm moving this to the US Nation forum. There's also a sticky topic at the top about the
choice between Brooklyn or Northamption. You might want to read it.

I personally loved the Portland, espeically around level 56ish. However, it lacks any
good AA, and is nearly useless in GB2 (The only thing it could do is protect BB's from
smaller vessels, or change to AA guns on the 3 main mounts; I didn't attempt to use
torps/HH on it at all). Good in Blitz though.

A note: the Atlanta can be very, very frustrating to use, especially with low-level
gunners. The firing angles for the Atlanta are terrible, and the spread is going to suck
for a long time.

It is, however, the best high-angle ship out there. Learning to use it is a must.

I must agree .....play Atlanta as an AA ship in GB - using the 3"/70 guns and reload
gunners. Its fun, but also earns many experts for your sailors. Read the AA guide on
the nf-guides site and practice.

DDX, Brooklyn and Balti...are amongst the most enjoyable ships to play in the US line.

The Brooklyn is a DD killer in blitz.....it also has a devastating one shot torp broadside
that can take out a BB1. The Brook is also an awesome AA and ASW ship in GB...and so can
be used in a number of enjoyable ways. One unsung ability of the Brook is its ability to
rush and kill BB's in GB...if the conditions are right. Those 5 batteries of trips can
lay down and impressive amount of fire in a short time. I have killed BB4's with the
Brooklyn.

The Baltimore is a very strong gun ship in Blitz........and can make a very useful Gun and
AA ship in GB. Its T slots make an excellent AA battery and putting the 8"RF guns on the
R slots gives it a heavy punch, with as good an 'almost block' that you can get in the US
line. The only downside of the Balti...is it size...it makes a big target!?

This is a fun line to chase down .......and come back to.

1- The Atlanta is a powerful and effective AA ship for Great Battles. I'm not sure about
the Juneau, as I never felt the need to use it. In other words, if you're doing
Blitzkrieg use the DDX. If you're doing Great Battle use the Atlanta with AA.

2- Absolutely get the Brooklyn. The Brooklyn line leads to the Baltimore, which is one of
the top CAs in the game. It also carries you to the Colorado and the South Dakota, which
are two of the fastest and hardest hitting low-tier battleships in the game.

It is certainly a debatable subject, but I've been playing quite a while and I'm fairly
confident that you'll have the most fun going this way. Go to the USN section of the
forum and read LordKelvin's guides for any other questions.

Good luck!

Atlanta is a nice ship to use. It gives you a feel on how bigger ships are handled, and with more
turrets it is easier to hit things. Its remodels are also quite nice, but you have to consider whether
you have a safe number of credits. Once remodelling, selling the ship won't get you the credits you
put into remodelling.

Oh, and for your second question...
