  • strasbourg really that bad?

ok so I was looking at some of the threads in here and I am becoming very discouraged.
is the strasbourg really bad enough that I should stick with the paris?
I was looking forward to playing in it but now I don't know if I want to anymore.
What kind of playstyle should I use if I get it? defensive?
Thanks a lot

I gotta say, my experience is somewhat limited, but I played it with abysmal crew and
liked it well enough. Was helping a fleetmate reach the MN event level limit to get the
clone sailor.

The spread is decent, and I seemed to see a better spread on "over the shoulder" shots.
Otherwise, the whole front gun only allow for ship movement that would limit most
traditionnal ships unless the person driving it is a master of separating front and rear
gun in the middle of a firefight.

Its got decent speed and a small enough hitbox.

Needs more ammo tough.

After playing a bit on Strasbourg, I think its not bad, really, just what I did was
switching to Normandie/Lyon guns, the range difference is unimportant, you still have to
go in range of almost everything, but they are doing more dmg, spread consistancy is just
as bad as original Strasbourg guns, so youll be looking for every point of dmg you can
get, at least if you actually thinking about getting some serious exps, sinking stuff or
something like that and not just leaching your way up...

I still think Normandie is better because of smaller profile and +4 shells in salvo, even
thought it kinda lacks ammo in longer games. Its about what you want, more DP and higher
speed(right now, my a bit over "at level" crew can do 40 knots on OH with Normandie guns
and there is still a lot of space to go faster, its 27/40 or 28/40, so possibility to go
about 45 knots with better engs), bigger profile and less guns, or a bit worse speed(going
23/38, so almost at cap, 39 is max), less DP, smaller profile and moreguns

Strasbourg is actually pretty nice, if you know the angles and you hit your target. With
my lvl 91 gunners some shots are close to blockshot, the spread doesn't suck that much.
Also, considering front guns only take 1 gunner to operate, you can use your other gunner
to operate the quad AA guns ( I can't remember the caliber), you can easily 1 shot a
fighter (highest number I've took in 1 shot was 4). And the richelieu doesn't suck, you
just have to have the skill and hit your target, you can cripple a iowa with 1 succesful
salvo hit. Also, rich has some AWESOME long range AA. When I grinded to rich, I used the
lyon not stras, simply cause lyon is funnier for me to use than stras. Well, it's up to
you to decide when you get to stras, see if you can pwn with it, or if you can't you can
use paris / lyon till rich / alsace.

no, the biggest disappointment is the Richelieu, hands down.

The Straus is ok, but the fact that you loose a support slot compared to the Paris or
Lorraine is disheartening. The Size of the Ship is nice, and its speed is good, but just
like every ship in the MN line the spread stinks. That, in my opinion, is what makes the
Paris better, you simply have more shells and better ammo capacity when using the proper
guns (I use the Paris w/ the 12's not the Loraine's 13's). If you were hoping for a
British dunkerque you will be sorely disappointed.

doubt the strasbourg can be any bad, cause that place is already filled by Lorraine,
the biggest piece
of ......... ever in Navyfield. Even the Agano is better.

It's a ship that suffers if you compare it with other nations, specially UK and US.
That's -for me- the main problem of the MN. Allied ships (UK/US) have excellent end
tiers.

I'm playing it now that my BO and gunners are 86 and the supports are hitting 80.
Spread is quite bad, and it isn't going to get much better. Shell power is nice, but
when few of them hit your target the results can be frustrating.

You will have to make rotations with your supports, and it can't hold all eight of them,
or you could sail without scout.

Is it horrible? I'm playing it and getting similar exp as with the Paris, so it's good
enough to get you to Richelieu if you accept its shortcomings: It dies easier than a
Paris, spread is larger than your enemies so half of your shells don't connect, and it
requires that you rotate your supports.
No, it's not horrible, but it's not as good as previous MN ships.

Mine does 27/38 with four 12+ BVE engineers. I've heard tales of more speed, but
that's impossible at this level, maybe when supports are closer to 90...

A good point: You don't need to cross your gun lines, so changing directions is quite
forgiving, and makes an interesting tactic.

Try it.

i'm kinda playing with both lines, 2 lvls away from lyon on one BO and about 6 lvls from
the Richelieu on the other...

Strasbourg is a weird ship for me to play but if it works for you play with it, like others
said the spread can be loose, even with gunners 4 lvls higher...

I really did not like it at all, then a friend convinced me to try itr again when i was
around lvl 95, and it was nice.

It seems with the Stras and the richelieu, you need to be 10-15 lvls above the ship
for it to be decent.

completely agree all because one person says it sucks doesnt mean it does...Dido is
supposed to "suck" i find it alot more fun than emden just about everyone says
Pluton sucks... pluton guns down MN CL1s 5 guns vs 3? and pluton can be armored
unlike mogadore while still carrying plenty of speed. Pluton= Omaha fun armored or
really light but weak with mixed armor setup.

ive used stras alittle its a love hate thing with it. some games i break 100k attack
then others i make hardly 1k attack just watch the line and push when they fall back

and the 2 front gun no rear should make you think of a POW.
