i figured out what i was doing wrong

Depending on the ship, you might have to turn the ship and fire
from the other side as well. So which ship are you using?

Do you also have the necessary number of torpedomen on your ship? Were you firing on
gradual (if you were you need to tap space as many times as you have launchers), and
finally, did you have both launchers selected (press x so both guide lines become green
instead of white). Also make sure that both torpedomen have the level/class required by
the launchers.
