  • Is this sailor any good?

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this or something, but I'm still pretty
much a noob to these forums as well as NF, I just rolled this guy today and was wondering
if hes actually any good.

Stats:
+15 Potential
+10 Accuracy
+9 Reload
+10 Torpedo
+11 AAW
+10 Repair
+10 Restore
+8 Engine
+9 Aircraft
+11 Fighter
+10 Bomber

Since the skills are so spread out though it may not be of much use, but the +15 potential
as well as +11 AAW and balanced Fighter/Bomber skills are pretty good.

Is he worth selling? Or should I just keep him?

Thanks alot!

"It's come to the point even DD3's with their naval guns can hurt you badly and the
support
stats will become unnoticeable except engine (which btw only ENGYs can provide
and SHOULD
be the one sailor responsible for your support stats instead)."

But that in itself is arguable, especially the first line, because with one of the more
recent patches subs can now repair at full rate underwater.

^--- That's arguable.

It's been said if you kept the support stats but neglect the Potential, you will earn less
sub detection ability and hence get easily jumped. You wouldn't notice this difference
until you go head-to-head with subs using your own. Subs battles can turn really ugly for
both sides, and getting the jump on your opponent is essential.

Like wise, Air supply will take more to recharge than it is classed on time which becomes
vital by SS3-4 stage.

And even if you can put up with these facts, consider this: HE damage does more to subs
surfaced than underwater where underwater is null (you're sturdier against torps though).
It's come to the point even DD3's with their naval guns can hurt you badly and the support
stats will become unnoticeable except engine (which btw only ENGYs can provide and SHOULD
be the one sailor responsible for your support stats instead). Imagine the sadistic BB's
driver's smile when he lands a least a single shell on you.

If you make him a Sonarman, DO NOT class him as a Sonarman right away. Classing him as a
Sonarman only adds 1 to the potential base(sonar ability) but it takes away 8 from the
Repair, Engine, and Restore base. If you level him as a Support Sailor he will gain
slightly less Sonar ability but will gain a lot more Repair, Engine, and Restore ability.
The higher you level him before classing him the better.

Everyone needs a sonarman at some point even without sub. Level up sonarman and
put it on a dd escort for your BB to spot subs.

So thats to say this sailor is actually good? Right now though I'm not really planning on
going sub anytime soon, so I wanna get some prices on this guy.

+15 Potential
+10 Repair
+10 Restore
All that matter.

AAW doesn't work.

Make it a sonarman or a planesman for epic win.
