In my opinion, Hedgehogs are set up incorrectly.
When NF made the nerf changes to the SS class, they also upgraded damage changes to Hedgehogs. As compensation to the SS class, they lifted the damage repair while underwater restriction. A trivial change.
And since HHs were buff'd, and they have a nifty feature of exploding on contact with surface ships, they are now the absolute most powerful weapon for a Level 12 sailor. Good range and explosive force makes them a potent weapon. I have seen many ships sunk from a HH barrage. I sank a Ticonderoga CV with HHs in a CV-Only battle. I watched a HH CA just pummel every ship that got near. With high level Reload gunners punching out HHs every few seconds at enemy ships. This isn't about anti- sub anymore, this is clusterbomb attacks on ships. HHs should be timed explosives and only work on submerged vessels and only minimally on surfaced vessels that pass over explosions. HH fittings should be removed on all but ASW-ONLY ships. A special class of ship restricted to FF, DD and some CL. BB, CV, CA, SS classes should not have fittings. A key ingredient in game play is the cooperation of other players in your needs. A lonely scout, an ASW ship to combat SS, a good CV for air support, a CA or CL for close in support. The game needs small ships.
