Well, add the fact that the Sodak and Nocal gun sets are just horribly inaccurate to
begin with. Really. Going from the Tenn to the Nocal was like a kick in the teeth. Sodak
was marginally better, but still...

It's too bad SDE removed the ability for people to find out if their gunners are capped.

I know that before capping accuracy was really easy. I think they changed the values
slightly since aldebert wrote his guide but here is what his guide says:

"Yes, there is an accuracy cap. You reach it when your gunners true acc-ability is

--> 4706 * lvl of gunners + 1000000 <--

It is independent from your ship, FCS, guns or whatever else. Once you have reached that
value, your gunners do not get better accuracy by adding vets for example.

If you start with a +10 gunner, boost him and give him 100 vets (which seems to be normal
allready), your gunners will be at the accuracy cap surprisingly soon.
Here are some numbers - all +10base, boosted, 100vets sailors.

UK ACC gunner - lvl63
UK rel gunner - lvl85
KM Gunner - lvl64... and the others are in between.

Now that is only the cap. And if you have looked sharply - there is the level of your
gunners as a factor in the formula. Meaning - the cap increases every level. (your gunners
accuracy just increases faster then the cap, so once you have hit it - you stay over it)

Your spread however is determined by the accuracy itself, which is a number calculated by :

Accuracy = (FCS + GunRev) * ((3 * true ability /1000000) + 1)

Where "FCS" is the accuracy revision of your FCS and "GunRev" is the accuracy revision of
every gun. Most of them are 0 - the guns that block have that value set to 25.

So what determines your spread now :

1) FCS
2) The Guns accuracy Revision (assume 0 for the guns that don't block for now)
3) Your gunners true ability UP TO THE CAP. <- there's the catch
[Once your gunners have reached the cap, there is nothing you can do to make them better
except level up to increase the cap value]

The FCS has by far the greatest effect on your spread. The part that is affected by your
crew makes up only around 35% of the final accuracy value."

So yeah, you should be capped fairly easily. Once you get into the 80's you almost
certainly accuracy capped unless you have low vet and expert counts. As for reload I'm not
entirely sure but you'll get there eventually.

Sorry for the long quote, just seemed like a good place to put it for people who didn't know.

okay now this is getting me worried. i have lvl 85 gunners base stats 11/11 I THINK..
not sure. not boosted or anything but i got about 80 vets on each. the spread is
horrible, godawful, etc. for the sodak 16" L's. i was thinkin about boostin them. is that
still wrong?

i mean i use a colo now but the spread is now finally getting manageable but the lvl for
those guns are like more than 10 lvls below my gunners lvl. i dont wanna have to lvl my
gunners over 10 more lvls to finally get a manageable spread ya know?

The caps aren't hard to reach.

If my yellow named, unboosted, 84 vets, level 106 A-A-A gunners can reach both
reload and accuracy caps easily then there is no NECESSITY in adding too many
more vets. You're long since accuracy capped. You've either hit the reload cap or will
hit it in 2-3 more levels. If you're really bothered by only having 80 vets than go
ahead and do what pnov said.

EDIT: Oh by the way, V2C, what's with the contridictory posts?

I'd say use the vets SDE is throwing around and get them to 100. ACC gunners won't reach
reload cap anytime soon and you can use the extra second.

Since they changed the caps gunners are alot harder to cap unboosted now. Thats the main
reason I boosted my KM AA that was capped at one point. Go figure classing them so late
did almost no good for some reason and they still arnt capped.

Why do people boost their gunners T-T what a waste of a boost. At least boosting your
radioman doesn't become obsolete over time. It just starts out obsolete T.T

Trust me, all these guys want is for you to waste your money. Gunner caps are the easiest
to reach, you are fine.
