  • Still worth it to powerlevel a CV BO?

    07. 29. 2010 20:37

I know it used to be worth it to powerlevel a CV BO because you would never have
to spot shells. But CVs now have guns.

I have an old sailor I was powerleveling to be a CV BO, currently US level 48
unclassed. I don't know if it's worth continuing with him anymore though, with CVs
now having guns.

- another noob question brought to you by a returning player who was absent a
very long time.

First, that was from last month. Who cares anymore?

Second, "You have to know how. I am not going to tell how" is a hint why exactly?
That's more keeping a secret and rubbing it in someone's face who doesn't know it
than it is giving a hint, like a little kid would say "nyaa nyaa I know and you don't,
and I'm not telling!".

Meh, if you are too sensitive by facts then it is not my problem.
I said facts and I even helped you.

You should be glad that I gave you a hint.
It is you who feel the answer useless, even crunch figure out the meaning in my post.

The Aircraft stat does not do anything with AAW. It used to give planes some pretty insane
sight range but now it only works like the bomber stat except against enemy planes only.

Bomber stat at the moment is the only one effecting resistance to AAW. (NOTE I SAID
RESISTANCE, there is no such thing as being immune to AAW) Torp Bombers normal in the late
60s early 70s hit a high enough ability to bounce AAW from anything but the South Dakota
and Colorado (The ships with the 2 highest AAW Stats)

AAW Stat currently is not activated. When it is the Sodak and other US ships will hit
planes with AAW. (Cough SDE we are still waiting)

Please note a 11/12 (Fighter/Bomber) Pilot will outperform a Elite (13/11) due to the
Fighter Ability Cap. You just have to wait til lvl about lvl 105-110 to find it.

Oh to powerlevel sailors now. Level the sailor to level 12 and class it to the nation you
wish the sailor to be but DO NOT Class it as a Bridge Operator til you want to. It will
still recieve the Neutral Sailor EXP Boost As long as its not classed to a specific job.

This old thread is a perfect example of what I mean:

SearchText=aircraft&Ctg_1=&Ctg_2=&Ctg_3=

It's why the pilots I was leveling back then are pretty bad today. Aircraft was the
useful stat for fighters and bomber, bomber might not be that useful even for
bombers.

Mind you, by December 2007 I had stopped playing (I think October I stopped) so
the tests mentioned in the very last reply were not known when I rolled my pilots.

I'm not on track with my fighters though. They have very low bomber stats.

"11) bomber
========
Bomber ability is the only ability that is responsible for resistance against enemy fire -
both AAW and gunfire from Fighter (or other) planes. Again - for scouts, fighters as
well as bombers.

...

Taking all this into account - you want true bomber ability on all your pilots - as much
as possible!! A high fighter stat is nice and important too but its effect become less
pronouced at a higher level. By not classing your pilots above the minimum class,
you not only keep more growth in bomber ability, you also keep the increased crew
growth, which in fact gives you even more fighter ability as well.
A non-classed "Fighter pilot" will beat a similar (same crew composition and base
stats) "Ace" or "SQLdr" hands down every single time."

This info on the bomber stat was not known back when I rolled these fighters. Like I
said, it was believed the aircraft stat might do what bomber stat actually does. My
fighters have horribly low bomber stats, some might even be 8s because it wasn't
important.

I remember people always questioning the value of elite bombers because of it, with
their low aircraft and uselessly high bomber stats. Even elite fighters were not that
good because their aircraft was only 9.

Dont worry you are on the right track with your BO. Just carry on and you are ok. ;)

"That being said, you can still power lvl a bo. You have to know how. I am not going

Welll then what are you even doing in this thread? Go away if you're just going to
say you have info but won't tell what it is. That's highly annoying.

I realized something else when looking at the CV crew I was leveling back then: I
rolled fighters with bad bomber stats but decent aircraft stats, because back then
aircraft was considered possibly useful but bomber useless for fighters. For a time
bomber was even considered useless for bombers; I remember people thinking that
elite bombers were worthless because they had 9 aircraft and 13 bomber, even
more worthless than elite fighters which at least had the 13 fighter to make up for
the poor aircraft stat.

I think I have to reroll every single pilot and am considering rerolling my CV BO.
Basically I have to start my CV crew from scratch again save for support sailors.

That being said, you can still power lvl a bo. You have to know how. I am not going to
tell how.

The "common slang power level" we know was removed, because the GMs disliked to see lvl
100+ ship on the first day of their release. But they didn't said a word that power lvl
itself is definately removed.

Dosnt matter still unless you want to use it on a pbb. then its a good idea to vet it.
Since you are powerleveling take all the recruits off to save weight. You just cant class
a sailor to a nation after level 25 anymore.
