  • Advice for a new sub driver?

I'm leveling for a sub right now, and its first time in one. I've played both BB and CV.

I have all the sailors needed (I think?): 2x +12 torpers, 2x 15+ supports, 1 already
sonarman, the other still waiting to become a planesman. For gunners I plan to use my
lower-level blitz gunners if I need them, for other supports I can steal from my O pro.

Any advice you might give?

Please no "OLOLOLOL SUB U NOOB"...

LOLOLOLOLOL SUB NOOB...
jk... hehe... I have a sub in all nations bar US (I'm the biggest noob of the lot, haha)

OK... IMPORTANT STUFF...

Carry a gunner on you... even from the ss2... It is good to take out those FF with DC...
Also use the rear slot with this gunner when you get to ss4... On my KM SS4 I use both aa
and he shells... so I can do a bit of both ^^,
I don't use both gunning slots on my KM as it slows me down too much (my ijn ss3 goes
faster with the engys in OH than my KM ss4 even without all slots, lol)

Use a little bulge. KM is good for taking out other subs (cus of proxy torps) but incase
the other sub hits you once you should be able to have enough health to send some at him
and still be able to continue on your trip :)

"Why does everyone freak about SS1?

Sure the air isn't great but it's a training ship. It's a lot better learning about SS vs
SS in an SS1 then an SS2. "

The air isnt rly good enough to get to BBs and do any amount of damage, not to
mention the torpers arent realoading very quickly yet. IMO, you have 2 options:

A. use the SS1 to subhunt (KM ss has proxys... FTW.)

B. Use the emden til your crew is at 47 or whatever level the ss2 is.

Not sure why everyone thinks powerleveling was taken out. It wasn't. They took out the
ability to class neutral sailors after 25, but that's it.

How anyone fits any other support (above one engie) of useful level on SS is beyond me. I
carry one engie (lvl 107/165+ vets/3X rookies) and I can't squeeze much of anything else
on SS3.

The problem with powerleveling a BO is that the crew need to be at the SS level to use the
torps anyway.

Do NEVER EVER buy a SS1. Better stay in a destroyer or whatever ship you got before it AT
LEAST till SS2. OR even better powerlevel a SSBO (just pick his nation at level 12 buy
class him as a BO AFTER he can use SS4.

You need:

Engies - Number depends on the sub.
Torpmen - 2
Sonarman - Else you WILL go blind the second you submerge. Besides other subs will take
potshots at you.
Planesman - pretty much required.

You might want:

Repairer - Pretty neat. Adds some SD and helps you in fighting longer (not the case in SS1
since it falls apart when nearby whales fart) usually he makes the difference between
floating dead meat and a damaged but still deadly sub.
Seaman - Allrounder. Neat to have. Besides he adds a good deal of SD (very good on IJN subs)

And again DO NOT BUY THE FIRST SUB.

I've already decided I'm going KM. From what I can tell they seem to have the best SS (At
least they seem to pose the most danger to me -_-).

For engies like I said I will just steal from my BB crew. My engies need leveling anyway.

Choose your nation carefully for SS. Lots of threads on that topic.

Don't forget engies.
