It only fires if planes are close enough. I don't think your guns had enough range.

Was just haplessly lurking the forums when I saw this. Then I remembered I
wanted to ask this question:

"It can aa planes (if you load aa guns/shells onto it)"

Do they need to be the "A" type guns? I set my DD with "L" versions with only AA
ammo, but it didn't fire. I was just curious if it was a bug or if I should just try it
again.

An escort ship can help you do many things. It can aa planes (if you load aa
guns/shells onto it), spot subs, help kill small ships around you. But it drains your
credits and does not give the sailors on the escort ship exp.

In order to make an escort ship follow these instructions:
1. You MUST have two different bridge operators.
2. put your 2nd bo onto the ship you want to make an escort (must be ff/dd/cl).
3. put your crew onto the escort ship.
4. in the top right corner, click "escort setting"
5. Click "form"
6. Click "YES"

Congrats, you now have an escort ship.
In order to remove your escort ship do the following:
1. Click "escort setting"
2. Click "Dismiss"
3. Click "YES"

There you go, enjoy your new escort ship.

By using the search function you would already have had your answer... or by at least
posting this question in the right forum...
PS: To start search do not press enter after typing the search tag to start search but
click the button...
