Hi, I'm completely new to this game. I'm sitting here behind a routed network trying to log in to the game, but it takes forever. (more than 10 min) What's wrong?

You gotta talk your sys admin into forwarding the ports above. If not i do not belive you will be able to get into game. It seems that you have one already forwarded, as one is the for the update server and one is for the game.

Tell your network admin that he/she should start up an account here, get them playing and your ports WILL open up ;)

Good Luck

There's one thing I don't understand then: why does the update function work then? I've just updated 29MB worth of files via the gaming client. Also, my network admin is paranoid. He thinks activating port forwarding or opening ports will make hackers destroy his whole network..

EDIT:
Have you tried the things listed above? Mostly

Do you have current DirectX? Yes

Do you have a hardware firewall, or another software firewall? Router firewall

Are your video drivers current? Of course

Is there alot of traffic on your network? No

I live in Norway..

The problem may also be related to latencey issues due to the odd routes some ISP's take to get to Korea. If this is the issue then once the servers are moved you should be in good shape.

I hope this helps

i dont know whats wrong with mine but i seem to have some sort of problem 1)reaching the update server and 2) logging in, it sits there for at least 7 minutes then gives me the message "login time is over. try again." what does this mean?

Thanks

If you are behind a firewall you should make sure that you ask you Network Admin to allow communication on these tcp ports 8001 and 16671.

Hope this helps!!

Sorry, it din't help. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the router firewall, but why would it block NavyField? It works just fine with anything else web-based I've tried. I'll try redownloading when it's night. Downloading stresses the LAN.

I'm sorry if I've posted too little information. Just ask, and I'll tell you. (Yes, I do run Win XP SP2)

Do you have WinXP?

If so there are 2 things that may help.

try exlucding NF from the DataExecutionPrevention:

A) Go to the Control Panel

B) Double-click on the SYSTEM icon.

C) Click on the ADVANCED tab.

D) Click on the SETTINGS button in the PERFORMANCE section.

E) Click on the DATA EXECUTION PREVENTION tab.

F) Check the checkbox in front of "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select"

G) Click ADD

H) Navigate to your NF directory and add the NavyFIELD.exe

Try redownloading NF and turing off the SP2 firewall and any other firewall.

Try turning off the SP2 firewall

A) Click the Start button

B) Click the Control Panel icon

The Control Panel window appears

C) Double-click the Security Center icon

The Windows Security Center window appears

D) Click the Windows Firewall listing

The Windows Firewall window appears

E) Click the General tab

F) Click to select the Off option

G) Click the OK button
(solution by obst)

I hope this helps
