If you got to Texas lvl with unclassed crew, start completely over(unclassed crew will
never be as effective as classed on-time crew). In fact, since you said you have heavy
rld gunners as your mains, start over too.

you need at least(when I say +<some number> look for it under the growth column when you
roll a new sailor(left side number)

1 BO +14 or better potential
2 ACC gunners 11/11 or 12/11 acc/rld stats
5 Engy +11 or better engy stat
5 Rep +11 or better rep stat
1 scout +11 or better Fighter or bomber stat

that will give you 14 sailors if you ever make it to BB6 level. Class everyone
on-time(refer to the sailor tree on trainworld.us). Engy/reps all class at lvl 12 as
support sailors(then again into engies and reps in the late 20's). The scout pilot gets
classed as a "special forces" sailor. Never class the scout after he reaches "scout
pilot" lvl. Class the gunners as accuracy every time you are given the option(my personal
opinion......since I am anal about gun spread).

As for the Texas..... Trip 8D's for the main guns, or the Trip 6L or D. Storm is kinda
on the right track saying that the Brooklyn line is easier...however the majority of the
time this translates to poor BB driving by Sodak level. Generally, if you go the
Northampton line, the lack of good spread and speed allows for maybe some*** skill
improvement. First timers seem to suck less at North Carolina then Sodak when they first
get a BB3(since the brooklyn line generally has easier to play ships....except alaska at
level)

The choice is yours...but I suggest keeping your BO that you have now, create a new one
with the above guide and go the Northampton route. Ignore the sub and even CV until you
get BB driving down, as driving a sub as your first ship generally teaches you nothing(and
you need completely different crew type to use it).

You probably screwed up your first crew.... which almost everyone does in this game. No
worries.

If you're new, start up the brooklyn line. It's the closest thing to Easy Mode for the
US. The Texas is neat, but it's pretty limited and doesn't teach you much about playing
any other kind of ship.

Eventually, you're going to want the following crew...

2 bridge officers (so you can try multiple ship paths)
4 gunners (2 for main guns, 2 for T slot guns)
4 or 5 Engineers
2 or 3 Repairers
1 Rookie Pilot

You'll need to spend a lot of extra time in multiple ships to level up the extra guys, but
that gives you time to earn more credits anyway, so that's a good thing. To be good,
you'll want to work those sailors up to 80-100 vets each, plus Premium (boost) if you have
the budget to do it.

Oh, and credits - if you're short on cash, avoid Hedgehogs. they eat credits.
