  • Quick Question On Texas

I just purchased a texas cl to mess around with. It came with duel 8" guns. I thought
you could place triple 8" guns on it but the only option I saw was trip 6". Also, my BO
is 37 so I can use it but my gunners which are 37 says they are unqualifed level. What
level can i start to use it?

I prefer 8" triple only on front (1 gun setup) with HHE, but ammo run out very fast
with lv110 gunner...
And the lack of displacement makes it crappy. 900SD is very difficult in this ship.

Normaly ycee I would agree with you about that since I'm not a fan of the lack of range on
those guns. Its no accident that all the PCL high scores, atleast posted on TTF boards, were
using the smaller CL gun options as oppesed to CA guns.

I don't recommend you go with the 6"s. One of the best advantages offered by the Texas is
that it gives you CL guns on a ship the size of a FF with likewise hit box. Ergo, I
suggest you use the guns that give you the longest range. Long as your gunners are a bit
above at-level, mine were mid to high 50s when I first got my hands on the Texas through
the event, you'll be doing fine and having loads of fun.

What I said is especially true in Blitz games where people have horrible spreads/terrible
aiming capabilities. As for GB2, I don't really recommend running your Texas through it.
And even if you do, it's best you rabbit punch BBs from further out than get close enough
to be broadsided by one.

Not really. Nothing like blocking from day one.

That's boring.

"Level 101 Gunners for Level 89 and 85 US BOs = Priceless. "

Dont you love it? :D level 103 gunners/98-99 supports and scout with level 89 and 81 bos,
though I dont really use my USN BB crew anymore.

As for the Texas thing, trip 8" have very low damage potential due to ammo limitations.
For range I prefer the Dual Ls but for maximum damage potential trip 6" works very well.

to the OP:
The Texas only gets fun when you have gunners in the late 70's.

you know compass.. I used to say the same thing untill I got to lvl 109 with my gunners
and the BO was now 3 lvls behind..

:O

General rule of thumb, you always want your gunners at least 5-10 levels above your
BO.

Your BO is the least important member of your crew, ironically. Supports and gunners
that are higher then your BO is a very, very good thing.
