How level up until you reach the CV ships

dudapih	Hi, I hope this is not a TOO much noob question. I was playing with UK CL but I decided to start a japanese CV. My main question is about how level up until I get 38 and buy the first CV. I will not use guns on my CV. In the R slots I will use a seaman and a medic. My pilots crew would be 4 fighters, 3 DV and 1 TB. But what I should raise first? And when (as FF, DD, CV)? My last question is what stats I should recruit all my sailors (the original ones I already use in my CL).

I responded to a necro. 0) Read the stickied CV guide in the IJN forum (and possibly its links) if you haven't already. http://www.navyfield.com/board/view.asp?Num=166907&Sort=A03 1) Vet death has been removed for pilots, so a medic is of limited value these days. perhaps a repairer...? 2) Start leveling all of the pilots at the FF level. Just rotate them out. The Tsukikei and Yubari are both semi-capable AA boats, so that is an option. Gunners (regular, not AA) may be worthwhile for them. Alternatively, if you choose to skip the rookie pilot stage (taking your pilots directly from special forces to fighter/bomber), they can man the AA guns for quite some time. The dual 3.9" and 5" NLD guns are all options. (I'm partial to the dual 3.9" L) Also, you could put additional levels/experts your pilots with your UK crew. Just stick some RP10s on your Emerald and AA. 3) Oyodo and Mogami 1944 are now classed as cruisers rather than CVs, and as such tend to be credit sinks. This is especially true in GB2s. You may find that you'll have to AA, or play a conventional CL in blitz until you reach the Hosho/Junyo. 4) Since you're going IJN, it may be worthwhile to level 2 CV BOs, sending one down each line. The idea being to maximize the xp the pilots gain compared with the BOs, much how leveling 2 BB BOs will result in higher level gunners and supports. edit: headdesk

trev43545	I ended up buying my medic and seaman and training all my stuff at the same time and leaving 2 pilots at Special Force to operate low level guns

Happymeal2	Get gunners. As said above u cant just leech ur way to cv. Also if you get in the right ships (mogami CV :D) the guns can be really powerful compared to anything youd be shooting AT. Also you have to have 11(<---?) sailors at level 115+ PLUS the BO. 2 BOs wouldnt hurt, level the fighters to cv level, then the bombers, throwing in the medic and seaman any time u have an extra support or T slot open. If you still have more open after that try throwin on an extra fighter, the higher level the better.

Audessy	Bombers are generally easier and a bit more fun in the earlier levels while you aren't officially considered a CV in the Oyodo or Mogami remod. So I'd start with the 4 bombers first and use them to level fighters later. Be prepared, between level 40 and 75 of your fighter pilots they'll be extremely useless. Level gunners or torpedomen anyway. You need some sort of armament on order to not be considered a leech on your way to Oyodo. It never hurts to have them around in case you decide to start a Yamato crew some day.
