  • How horrible of an idea would this be?

Given the responses to my BB rant post (thanks a million to all that replied with
good info BTW, it really means a lot), I've decided to start leveling a CV crew. Today
I had an idea...since the BO's Potential stat basically dictates how far your sight
lines on your guns go and how far out you can spot shells, how dumb would it be to
just throw a sailor on my NV, class him US when he hits 12, and wait to class him as
a BO so he can just ride along until he hits 50 and can jump right into a Bogue? I
know that I'll still need pilots, but since a CV BO really doesn't have much shell
spotting to do, would this be a viable option?

I finally had to admit how terrible I was in BB's, so I did a ship tree reset from my
penn and started in a yorktown. Bought all the pilots I needed in the 60's on up and
ground them up. I am in an essex now with all T3 planes. DB's and fgtrs are all lvl 75
or above.

Its called power leveling. For a cv BO it doesn't hurt, and is still viable (all beit not
as good as it was before). If you choose this route, do not have a substantially higher
cv than the pilots, as this is extremely frustrating for teams. And as others have said,
never try this with a BB BO.

Please do not comment on something you do not understand. The patch eliminated the
ability to carry a "neut" sailor past level 25. The only thing this essentially prevented
is a player from powerleveling a bo on another nations crew. A "unclassed nationalized"
sailor will still receive a 40% bonus to xp and can fit into a support slot on a ship.
Allowing players to level a sailor that will be turned into a BO gaining more xp, and
leveled on another ship.

might as well as try a sub BO to do this. cuz subs dont usually use their deck guns o.O
the only sub i saw using guns were those KM SS4.. MACHINE GUN POWA!

I did this with a BB BO. Its terrible and i would not lvl him this way. use a smaller
ship then go from there. there is an xp chart on this site.

http://www.trainworld.us/NF2/English/index.html

use it to see the best lvling ships per lvl sailor.

It works only on CV.
Make sure you dont change your mind.

You want to level him up normally, trust me on this i power leveled a BO and he has bad
sight range when your the last player left in a CV this can be a bad thing. Level your
other crew like bullet and i suggested up with that BO to ensure max leveling capacity, it
helps i have a BO at NC and one at Nebby at the moment i'm paying for not leveling my
second BO up right now cause my crew is hurting a bit due to my scout being 104.5.

If your going to level a US CV i suggest getting 8 pilots, even though you can only fit 5
on the bouge it's still better to alternate them to get them up together. I use 6 FP 2
bombers, i personally love torp bombers so i have one torp bomber and one dive bomb pilot.

Torp bombing breaks the line up and forces your enemy back since most tend to think it's a
sub coming in and not torp bombers, use this to your advantage. Also learn the AAW range
on the different ships test the bombers when they start getting chewed up and when they
get shot down time it so you can learn to perfect your drops.

It's pretty reasonable, but it's probably worth spending some time leveling him on a lower
level ship. (Due to the above mentioned exp penalty)

You take up a slot on your ship.
And an exp penalty for the sailor/ship lvl difference
