AA in CVs isn't too bad, I mean how else are you going to clear the skies of fighters
camping you? And you certainly don't want your fighters to go up in the sky one by one as
they get chewed up by a squadron. If you have superior fighters that might be possible but not
always.

Plus if you expect AA from your team, sadly most of them will be out escorting the BBs
since for obvious reasons, AA boats and CVs don't mix well (although if they do see you
getting fighter camp'ed and no friendly planes in sight or if you are the flagship, that's
a different story.)

As for what AA guns, I can't recommend any at the moment, since I'm stuck at the bogue =P.
However, if I did get the chance, I would use the 5"/38 Mk 38 N/L/D gun series, since I'm
familiar with these before using my Atlanta.

I prefer HE in the guns of my CV. If I let enemy planes over me, my fault for not
managing my FTs correctly.

I let my HE do the dirty work on sneaky little ships and emerged subs rather than
spending too much time and effort on bombing them.

I have always used AA on my carrier.

Just personal preference.

I like the extra defenses.

Well what AA guns work best for you on your US CVs?

If you letting their DB through in PCV, there must some flaw in your fighter tactics (like
fighter launching pattern)...

If you're letting DBs through you're not sitting on the enemy CVs hard enough.

You should be able to dodge DBs in a CV.
