  • Need help for US BB crew

I am going to make a new US BB crew but I need help to decide on the set up of the crew: I will have
2 gunners, 2 AA, 4 engy, 1 res, 2 rep, 1 scout but what the last support should be, rep or seaman?

Other question is about US AA gunner, some say that reload gunners r the best for AA but r there
any advantages of the AA gunners? (eg.: A type gunz need less space or they have better range?...)

I also made the mistake of classing AA gunners when I first started (my first crew was
USN) I had them well into the 50s or 60s before I found out they were worthless and had to
dismiss them which means all that work leveling them was all for nothing. Trust me dont
waste your time with US AA gunners. Just make a set of REL. gunners and you will thank
yourself in the long run cuz even if whatever ship your on cant mount AA guns in the T
slot most of them can mount HH especially the prem HH and you will find them very useful
at times. If you class AA gunners A. their reload is going to suck so you will end up with
slow firing AA gunners and B. thats all they can use is the A class guns you cant mount
HHs with them.

So I should use rep or engy instead of seaman? Ok, 1 more about AA, what if I choose AA gunner
with 11/11 acc/rel, does it reaches reload cap once? R there any standard machine gun strenght
between AA gunner and reload gunner?

I had a Seaman for my KM CV crew when run on the BB in place of an engineer is was not
beneficial.

I believe with 4 very good engies you can still cap speed wise, however the endurance will
be substansially better with more engineers. I personally would rather have longer OH
time than a 4th rep or a seman etc.

US A-type guns have substantially worse range than their D counterparts. The only US
A-type gun with useful range IMO (golden angle below 40 degrees) are the 6"/47, and those
can only fit with multiple binds of ammo on the T-slots of the Guam, Montana, and Nebraska.

The extra space isn't going to be enough to help the BB1 standards mount decent AA.
Especially since the smallest double barrel A-type gun (3"/70) takes up more space than
its N counterpart. o_O

The better rate of fire tends to be offset by US AA gunners taking a substantial reload
penalty. Reload gunners can hit the reload cap by level 80, while on time classed AA
gunners (IIRC) never will. Even late-classed (as in after level 100) still need a good
base, boost, and lots of vets to keep up.

I would be rather surprised if 1 seaman + 4 engineers provided more OH than 5 engineers,
since this would imply them working 2-4x as well as any previous test indicated.

On the classing of your gunners - use the search function. There are also posts by a
poster called hauabda that details with what classing you reach ACC and REL caps. That's
what you should be looking for.

I am still confused: once I have heard that from a mod that seaman is very good on BB, since it
repairs almost as good as other reps and well vetted seaman + 4 engy r better than 5 engy.
I also have doupts about AA: on trainworld it says that most of the A gunz have better reload and
occupy less space. Some of the BBs can only run with the A type gunz... And also, some of them turns
faster which I find important because planes over my ship really annoy me and its hard to turn
always after them.

One more thing, how should I class the gunners? (since they can jump between reload and accuracy
type)
Correct me plz if I am wrong.

What blazer said. It may be worthwhile to level up a second scout (situational advantage
in BB rooms/night battles), but his recommendation should be the baseline.

Basically 2 ways to do it in my mind.

With AA:

2 Main gunners, classed Rld/Acc/Rld
2 AA Gunners, Classed as Rld/Rld/Rld
5 Engineers
3 Reps
1 Scout

Witout AA:
2 main Gunners
6-7 Engineers
3-4 Reps
1 Scout

I've brought up Nebby line twice both times going with AA. Omaha, Cleveland/Brooklyn,
Pensa, Alaska/Guam, Iowa, Monty all have very good AA. people complain about the range
but I'm yet to find a disklike to it. Beyond that, With triple rld gunners I can swap off
the AA for HHs.

To answer your other question, US AA gunners are completely worthless. They can
use the A type guns, but they lose their reload ability once you class them as AA,
and the one ability they do gain, AAW, does absolutely nothing. I found this out the
hard way and had to actually dismiss my 2nd AA Gunners because I couldn't even
GIVE them away. My advice, keep them as reload gunners.

Hasley
2 Accuracy gunners
2 reload gunners (for AAing)
4 engys
3 repairs
and 1 scout.
