In simple words: 1 pilot controls 1 flight of planes, ie. bombers or fighters. If you
would like to have multiple flights of the same plane type in the air at 1 time, you
need more than 1 of that type of pilot. More simplely said: use 4 fighter pilots and 2
or 3 bomber pilots (your choice, dive or torpedo). This will get you set thru CV3/4.
Ultimately, you can load 8 pilots on a CV6 IIRC.

If you don't want to use gunners on a CV (some CV's have gun slots), you can use
those spots to:
A. level up more pilots
B. use support sailors like engineers, repairers, restorers.

if you cv can launch 6 planes at a time

you can load 3 planes on 1 [f] and 3 on the other [f]

or

with [f] [f] [f] [f] [f]

you could load like this [2] [2] [2] then [3] [3] for the 2nd wave

its the same with bombers

Do I need just one of each type of pilot to send out several types of pilots or do I need

CVs dont need engs,reps and rest they only need are those pilots,seaman,medic and
gunner(if you have a gun slot on the CV).......

if you want to put engs,reps and rest just put it if you want its your choice mate ^^.
